Been wondering that myself. Every tuesday, I reload the patch notes page, just to see if there was a patch. No notes today, so I went to log in. There was a patch. Well played CCP well played. "Please stop reopening silly rumor threads."-á CCP Navigator. |

That patch contained back-end support for the alliance tournament management tools. We generally don't do patch notes for changes to aspects of our code that are not exposed to the players in any way. Game Designer | Team Five-0 https://twitter.com/CCP_Fozzie http://www.twitch.tv/ccp_fozzie/ |

Wouldn't it be better to just put that in patch notes anyways so we don't have to have a post like this every time you guys don't? You end up telling us what was patched in the thread every time, why not save the hassle and just make the patch notes?
With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Cmon, that would make too much sense. When have we ever known CCP to do anything that makes sense? Besides, they have to justify their forum trolling time responding to threads like this :)

Not for the ones who have to lock threads for ranting and trolling. Like ranting and trolling don't occur in threads that do get a dev response. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

While very droll (I did laugh), not sure I agree that it is easier or good for the game. One could as truthfully say "we could stop paying the hosting bills and shut the game down, even easier."
A quick note to say your adding internal use tools for alliance tournament or whatever it is you are doing is not so unreasonable a request is it? Why leave us in the dark when it's not hard to write a line or two about the update, even if there is no visible impact other than the update itself?
Patch notes even on patches like this is good policy, IMHO. Don't make me hand you a wizard hat. |

Seriously, I get more patch note description from Microsoft... though I pay more per year for EVE.
I know you guys work very hard, we all do. You can get to show it off by pridefully displaying it in the patch notes!
If you want to be taken seriously, as programmers, as cutting-edge dev teams, patch notes are part of the basics, along with customer service. Even if this is clearly a sarcastic comment, it could easily be bad PR for customer service. Though, having a little blurb "We optimized xyz for the XI Alliance Tournament!" would be positive PR. (Twitch TV?)
Clearly people who buy your software care about the product and wish to be informed about its updates. That's very high job praise! |

I like it even better when changes that aren't included in the patch notes have unintended consequences...
My personal favorite was when they patched wh pushing (You pushed the wh if you were close enough to it) and then made them immovable objects of infinite mass that would send any ship that warped to zero hundreds of km away. |

All jokes aside I do completely understand the desire to have notes for ll these patches. The truth is that we do try to have some patch notes for every client patch, even if some of them have to be vague because we're patching something you're not supposed to know details about like dev tools.
If you see a patch with no notes it's pretty safe to assume that the content is not player facing, but we still want to be minimizing those since not everyone who gets confused by them will read a thread like this.
So we can't promise the detail some of you might want for every change, but we're working on at least always giving you a note like: "We changed some internal tools." Game Designer | Team Five-0 https://twitter.com/CCP_Fozzie http://www.twitch.tv/ccp_fozzie/ |
