Hi guys, I am just dipping my toes into T2 production, and I notice that various R.A.M. items are listed in 'optional items'. But what do they actually do?
For example. I have just put a 3 run T2 Salvage rig BP in to the ovens and it asked for an optional item of a R.A.M.- armor/Hull Tech, which I provided.
I just want to know what it does?
Thanks in advance |

It allows you to make the item.
Some of these requirements are engineered to put a "floor" on the lowest possible price for making a thing.

Its not "optional" its extra. Extra materials are added to various blueprints and said extra materials dont care about the blueprints ME values. |

Right, got it! My bad, on reading 'extra' as 'optional' in my head. Makes perfect sence now the old brains have been knocked into gear.

R.A.M.s are the construction robots which build your stuff in the factories, they dont actually always get used on smaller runs since the loss of them is just a chance. In practice you do lose some of them when makin bigger batches but they are supercheap.
R.A.M.s aren't lost by chance.
They're damaged by each run, and when that damage reaches 100%, they're lost. The damage always happens, and it's always the same percentage (the stated percentage)

Chance or partial damage, in the end the overall loss is pretty much same |

Perhaps. But one is much, much easier to plan for. |
