As per yesterday when you visited the Feyth cluster on TQ that exhibiting the belt corrupution etc I thought I'd give you a more indepth description of the problem.
It's been bug reported by many to death over a long period of time before ya say. ;P
But also to allow any others that may have observed similar problems in other areas to step up and have a say so you can see if it's just a local prob on one node or a more wide spread problem over some other areas too.
Firstly Belts will degenerate almost to the point where there's no roids left in the belt because the roids are being regenerated out of grid, in many instances over 800k or so from the belt marker so that don't appear on the players overview and are unreachable unless they are good with a scanner and a inty.
It's not that the Roids are missing it's just 90% of em are now spread all over the damn system. lol
That is if you sit in a belt and scan at a range of say 700-800k ie scanning within the belt ya in but exclude resuslts from any other you'll see masses of returns on rocks with no distance values, they are there should be in the belt but are so far away from the belt marker they aren't actually in the belt.
The same is true of the rats in that as the distant roids are actually counted as being in the belt you'll get rats located near em WAY outside the belts marker sometimes over 1au 'walking' to the belt.
This hasn't been limited to 1 system either is right across the server area and all the systems on that node, dunno if it's on other areas too.
Wierdest thing I've ever seen in 1 year of beta and 2 years of retail.
Hows this happening? hmm, well I know this has been going on for a very extended period, and along time ago there was a bug where roids where being spawned off grid, it may be a leftover that's slipped though and indeed they are actually respawning in the same place only prob being the same place now is completely outta wack. lol
Anyways Can you guys please have a tidy up and regenerate the belts and put em back the way they should be cheers. :)

My money's on a new developer not understanding CCP's "interesting" decimal system and screwing up the "spawn_distance_from_beacon" variable :P

make scan probes and hiding in system wide roid belts (could be a definite non bug implementation before wider asteroid fields)

It's not all bad. scan for the missing roids, travel to them, bookmark them. you now have a much safer place to mine as it will take your enemies a while to get to you there.
Seen this in plenty of systems for a long long time and used to mine those roids exclusivly
