no ifs nor buts. everybody has a certain level of insanity in their heads and there are no people with insanity at lvl0. Well, loving dead corpses is a TAD extreme even in a Halcion world. It's called gallows humour, collecting the corpses of those you have vanquished is the same as mounting the heads of game you've killed on the wall as trophies.
I think you used halcion in the wrong context as well as misspelt it, the spelling you've used is a trade name for a sedative, the correct spelling is halcyon which is a synonym for calm, peace and tranquility

Jenn aSide wrote:But why must EVE be that game?
Because CCP doesn't exist for no reason. It can't produce games for a market without money. And money doesn't grow on trees.
Truth is EvE is a game where those whales went to play in space. They framed a game like they prefer (like the other games they play/ed). CCP complied and gave them what they want, as that's the only way to keep the doors open for a game that's too niched. But when a company does this in a game, the very whales get very demanding. They demand more than what the company can produce, and then the whales feed on the company.
The bitterness in this game is the bitterness seen in other games, LIKE WOW, when players don't get their way. They begin to hate the company.

Prince Kobol wrote:For the love of god not another one of these threads. Look.. SC and Eve are 2 different games, the only thing they share is that they are set in space and have space ships. Also SC is not due out until the 1st quarter of 2015 at the absolute earliest, so its a tad early yet to start pitching the 2 against each other. However saying all of this, yes SC will most like take some people away from Eve. Mainly those who only live in HS and enjoy PvE and Indy and hate PvP with a passion. Now some people will say good, I hope it does make some carebears leave Eve.. well those people are idiots as every person who leaves means less money for CCP. Anyway if you look here - http://starcitizen.wikia.com/wiki/Anticipated_release_schedule - you will see that there is a long wait until we can actually really see how the game is going to progress.
And we will be living on the moon long before that (it can happen!) but yea, I don't see SC and Eve competing. For those diehard gungho spaceship pilots... they will be playing both.
For those that can only afford to play 1 game a month... well... pay for SC and plex in Eve I guess. "Never rub another man's rhubarb." -Joker in Batman (Jack Nicholson) Just get a catalyst, blow him up and the post in local "Just a friendly reminder that I'm mining here and not you." -Abrazzar

Really now? So by your logic, since WoW is bleeding subscribers, there must be a exodus of talent from Blizzard HQ which would explain a few things like Diablo 3 and a Panda expansion. Right? Really. WoW will naturally bleed subscribers, because they can't make the content that matters with an ancient engine (hint CCP)!
I know you don't really do facts, but EVE is on it's 3rd engine already.

That is some of the worst nonsense I've ever read. You actually think CCP didn't make EVE like they wanted to, they made it to cater to some "whales" ? You didn't research the history of CCP and EVE online did you?
See, what you are doing is imagining you have this deep working knowledge of MMOs and people. You mistake your opinions for facts, then when you see something like EVE you think you know up from down, despite people proving to you that you don't. You do yourself a disservice this way, because instead of learning from EVE and CCP, you fill the air with unknowing blather.
CCP made EVE because they wanted to make EVE. We like EVE. if you don't that's ok, but why this basically totalitarian instinct of yours, where everything must have this bland sameness? if you are so worried about CCP's finances, why not go work for CCP and show em how it's done?

I don't know about this bitterness you speak about, what I do know is that some people just can't leave others alone and keep to their own patch. I don't understand this, I don't go into WoW forums and say "damn, this game sucks, you guys really need non-consensual pvp and a harsher death penalty".
I just don't get you at all. Good thing i don't have to as CCP isn't dumb, but at some point i'd love to understand why people like you think this way, what is it you think you will gain personally is EVE becomes some run of the mill MMO instead of a cool quality niche game.

It may not have appealed to your sense of humour, but that's not the threads fault.

But you never answer any direct questions, so i ask, why do you care? Of course, we know you don't answer because it would give away your motivations.
But why care about that anyway. Not many posters like you and all you really do (talking about WoW so much) is galvanize opposition to everything you have to say. So why not be truthful, it can't hurt you any more than your own postings have lol....

Yes.. CCP created the kind of game they wanted to in the beginning but as the years have rolled over they have had to pander to the player base to a certain extent because Eve is such a niche game they have no other choice.
CCP is now is not the CCP 10 years ago.
The CCP now will no longer take a risk and do something amazing and completely out of left field because they are scared of losing even a small portion of their player base.
What was the last major innovate expansion CCP did?

I, for one, am very excited about Star Citizen. I posted my thoughts in another thread, basically EvE and SC are apples and oranges, and someone rebutted with , "but they will have markets and exploration and all these other things that EvE already has too so they are comparable"
No, they are not. You're not going to tell me a twitch cockpit fighter sim and an rpg-style target and activate ability / submarines in space are comparable entities, regardless of how elements of their physical universe are similar. Wing Commander / Freelancer aren't alot of people's cup of tea.
Now someone said Star Citizens is making alot of promises, and it remains seen if they will be delivered. This is very important to keep in mind, but I believe Chris Roberts can pull it off. I especially have confidence the Squadron 42/ Star Citizen elements can be tied together flawlessly, much like a single player Homeworld story campaign before going multiplayer online. I think the game can give something to everyone. But it's too early to start praising or condemning the game. |

Doesn't matter. If 10,000 goes and stays in SC, it's a chunk out of HUMANS that play EvE.
See, in the numbers game if you have 9 million and 1.7 million leave, it's "so what?".
EvE has but 500k, and many have multiple accounts. So when HUMANS leave, that's more than just one "player" gone.
Yeah, SC, has a potential to hurt a niche game hard, even if a couple thousand HUMANS leave to play it full time.
Then the whales will have even less to gank, and be much like that MuD I used to play that was just as "mean, harsh, tough" that scared away potential players and begging for folks to play now.

Communities make or break games. And forums are the public face of them. You're the one constantly telling us that people play multiple MMOs, why should it be any different for Star Citizen, I'm sure many Eve players will play it as well as Eve. I count myself among the number that will play both, CCP won't lose my current account, my alt account was unsubbed with Incarna and won't be renewed until WiS is more than 4 $10 hotel rooms.
What's with the whales? the only whale related items I can think of in Eve are both industrial ships.
