ok this makes no sense.
running the caladari milatary missions get a mission to go survive in a battle give me a condor to fly and get blown up.
one of the requirements of the mission is to destroy at least 1 ship.
ok the condor can only fit missle launchers you start with no missle skills so you cant even fly the condor on the mission unless you wait hour to train the missle skills.
then to make matters worse the very next mission is about learning how to use missles these missions are out of order you should learn about missles then be given a ship that only uses missles.

Well, you are a Caldari pilot. They assume you fly Caldari ships for the tutorial. Either train the basic skills you need to fly the ship and fire the missiles (will take less then hour) or take a ship you can fly and finish the mission. You are not obligated to use the ship they give you...

ok I am new player I have the ibis which doesn't have the fire power to kill the mech ship or the condor which don't have the skills to use weapons on.
the very next mission gives you the missle skills book as well as teaches you to use the missles something could have used before I was told to fly the condor and kill a ship with no weapons on it.
i did buy the book and trained it to get thru the mission to be rewared it the very next mission which is just retared this is supose to be new player tutoral If i knew ahead of time what I needed I would't be a new player I would be a vet and not doing these missions anyway. |

You need to think for yourself in EVE. The tutorials can't teach that.
Example: If you realized you needed more firepower on an Ibis: * Did you remove the mining laser and fit another Civilian Railgun? * Did you notice it has a drone bay? * Did you ask for help in rookie chat or local? |

Slow down, take a breath. The hardest thing to understand about this game is its pace. Do not rush as it is a waste of time. If something seems like it takes a long time look ahead further and you will realize it is not that long at all. While waiting for skills to train read up on things you don't understand as the time will fly while learning new things.
Also when posting on the forums do not whine. If you read posts where people are whining they get flamed to death.
I agree that the tutorials are screwed up but as Tau mentioned, this game does not hold your hand. So in reality they should be screwed up as it teaches you to figure it out for yourself.
You need to make friends and/or do your own research and it will all start to make sense.
Use the rookie/help channels and remember to be respectful. There are many vets that are more than willing to help but you need to understand how to ackrite. |

First off, this really belongs in the Tutorial Suggestions thread.

Do you not see something a bit incongruous in that situation? |

oh yes Its also a good idea to do the other career agents as well. Even if you going into combat a lot the other missions will give you other skill books that are just as vital. They will also give you a variety of ships to use. |

It's true that the missions aren't necessarily in the most progressive order: you find you haven't trained a skill you need, then you may find you don't have the necessary book for it, you're asked to build things you don't have the materials for, you'll be awarded ships you don't have the correct modules for, you'll buy those and then learn you don't have the skills for them yet, the agent may want some isk as collateral which, although minimal, some pilots may not even have.
I quickly realized it's by design and for good reason. You're meant to use critical thinking and the game mechanic is teaching you how teach yourself, not BE taught. By the time you finish you know how to manage the skill queue, how to anticipate the steps needed to progress to bigger, badder ships, how to fit them, how to mine, refine, sell, buy, earn, fly, shoot, survive.
It's the roadblocks they put in your way more than the missions themselves that teach you the most. See them as the challenges they are and just use your noggin and you'll be fine. Untutored courage is useless in the face of educated bullets. Gen. George S. Patton |
