"fly safe" is a very common valediction within the EvE community. We are all aware that the only "safe" is docked away in an empire station which has nothing to do with "fly"ing, or not playing; relative to this game, "fly safe" is a cheep platitude verging on malapropism and should ubiquitously be dropped. For those who wish to express a role playish cordiality in chat channels that better reflects the character of the game at large, I suggest "flyer beware". |

That's a bit too absolute to be considered true.
Plenty of people say "fly dangerous" or say "take care" or "o/" or "o7".
Maybe you should get out of a single system a bit more and see the 'verse as it were. "Never rub another man's rhubarb." -Joker in Batman (Jack Nicholson) Just get a catalyst, blow him up and the post in local "Just a friendly reminder that I'm mining here and not you." -Abrazzar

Fly safe isn't to demand that we only fly in ways that would be safe. It's a warning. Fly safe is a way to remind them that they should keep their ship's safety in mind as they fly. To always be on the look out.
Fly Dangerous as a variation simply meaning to fly recklessly and have fun shooting things.

Ease up, dude.
It's just something to say that's short and easy to type.
Do you actually mean it when you say 'have a nice day' to everyone you run into? Of course not. It must be pedantic day here in the forum from the threads I'm seeing posted.
Mr Epeen There are 86,400 seconds in a day. You just saved one of them by typing 'u' instead of 'you'.-á Congratulations, dumbass! |

They're not telling you to "be safe", they're saying "fly safe", which inherently dismisses docking. You're obviously not following directions and disobeying orders if you dock up in empire when told to fly safe. Get with the program man!
I find that without a good mob to provide one for them, most people would have no mentality at all. |

The terms "very common", "should", and "suggest" are qualitative terms, not quantitative, and, as such, are not used to define an absolute.

It must be a mind set thing. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

Your suggestion is flawed..as you can't beware from what you can't see or expect. Like a smart bombing maelstrom on inbound gate.

To achieve complete safety, in any part of New Eden, one must remain logged off. CCP has thoughtfully provided a very special button to achieve this strategy, to LOG OFF SAFELY. Hardly a coincidence, and you may now sleep soundly at night.

am i one of the few that gets the point of this post? look at the title for the secret! OP found a trivial "unimportant" thing to post, and did a wonderful job of posting about it. I say +1 success to OP for staying on topic with his title.
however, i was initially taken aback at the frequency of long words that I was required to google to locate a definition... that made me tired, so.... -1
OP, your very unimportant post resulted in a net 0 score... which seems reasonable because the entire topic was essentially worthless.
Damn, so, you see, you've succeeded still even through the inclusion of those long words that exhausted me... +1 to you. |

don't fly? You may gain the knowledge, but you will lose your belief, with all its mystery and comfort. If there was proof, absolute and certain, there is an afterlife, why not quit this life, and be done with it? Ponder about these things all your life, and you're a philosopher. Compress these ponderings into a couple of pages, and you'll go mad. |
