elitatwo wrote:The DSM-IV-TR is very old and no longer in use in the psychiartric community. Just like any other disease it is put into the ICD-10 handbook which is international and gets updated every year.
DSM-V is the latest edition, but it's so new (released in May -- and even more controversial than the DSM-III and DSM-IV change -- that it'll take years before it's accepted in clinical practice [just as the DSM-IV did from DSM-III]). So yes, the DSM-IV+ will continue to be used clinically, despite it's age.
Medicine moves rather slowly (why do you think the DSM III and DSM IV lasted so long???). Heck, my medical school library goto textbook on tropical diseases goes back to the 1960s (and the same goes for even diseases like Tuberculosis, because in clinical practice it isn't seen much today, as it did even 50 years ago). And let's not forget the anatomy textbooks and their obscene age, despite medical imagining vastly improved in the past decade. GǪbut APD does not include the lack of self-image and tendency towards confusion between what is real and what isn't that plagues so many people and makes them think that legitimate gameplay somehow makes a person mean for real, nor the chronic self-victimisation that makes them think that others are out to harm them at every turn.
So BPD is probably a more accurate description than APD, especially since any notion that the characteristics of APD exists is itself best described as a symptom of BPD. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

Well I understand the antisocial aspects she is talking about but I don't know why they are unhealthy. They are one of the reasons I enjoy the game. Oh god. |

I don't mean to go on about it, it just bothers me that she would say that as I feel antisocial interactions generate content and improve the quality of the game for us all. If some people can't handle it and want to quit, well the game isn't right for them, but overall, I feel antisocial personalities have a very positive influence on the game as a whole. I just don't understand why it could be considered unhealthy to have a unique playstyle and give something back to the game you love. Oh god. |

Personally, I'm googling "online psychiatric diagnosis" and "psychiatric thesaurus" before I can answer that question.
What survey?
Google only shows me EVE's survey scanners. Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling. |
