OK so here I am in Catch (unclaimed 0.0 space) and two npcs are at the gate. They target and fire on me. After a bit I get fed up of this and fire back. Result - can't jump. Umm this is staggeringly staggeringly dumb!
Unclaimed space, no faction controlling it, I'm not the aggressor - what on earth are you guys thinking of?

I was seeing some people getting decline jumping for killing NPC pirates. That's not right! ---------------------------------------

ya its funny you help out that system by removing hte npc pirates and they you get access denied to jump LOL good one support Idea: QuickInfo an alternative to ShowInfo

btw this isnt funny... they need to fix it...
that means PC pirates could use this to there advantage... just let the PC person get shot by npc, and then they cant jump so you can finish them off for good i bet, i hope nothing else is screwed up in the code that is bad...

They shouldn't have this for player to player combat either. From what I understand, if I warp to a gate and some pker's jump me, there's no way I can jump or dock. So even if I have modules to stop them from locking on me, I have no choice but to sit and wait until my cap runs out and they kill me. I mean, if I'm in a cruiser and I run into 3 battleships, of course I'm going to run if my equipment lets me, and what's wrong with that? This means that anyone with a better ship will always kill you! What's really stupid is that the game has lots of modules that can stop some one from running if they want to. If I come up on a ship that has better sensor strength and warp jamming then I have, I don't have a problem with him kill me because he was better equipped then I was. But getting killed because I'm not "ALLOWED" to run away is just dumb...
I don't think I'll be playing for very long if this stays in place.

Well I could see the point if the devs had turned on faction standings (properly) but this is in a region where no faction has control. So who the hell is deciding that I can't jump? There's no stations anywhere in the region and to be quite frank I have to suspend my disbelief when I'm there. ie - who is going to build jumpgates to (essentially) nowhere?
Guess it's just another timesink for us to suck up eh?

Tar, Your wrong. Patch notes clearly state that if YOU initiate hostile actions or fire back at someone who initiate hostile actinos then you will not be allowed to jump. If you do nothing and go to gate and jump then you will be fine. This keeps PIRATES from running away after firing on you or jamming you or whatever if you decide to fight and start winning they cant run. I think that its a great solution to pirates running from people who would fight.

If I'm wrong, all the better, but I have one more question. In the patch info it said ecm modules are considered offensive, what dose that imply? If I run into some pker's and I turn on my white noise and ecm burst, will my sec ratting lower and/or will I not be allowed to jump?

nothing stop gate camper warp away if superior force coming, that's not a solution for fighting pirates, instead, it's a solution for pirates easily camping gate. pre patch, when pirates lock you, warp scramble you, web you, you can try to use ecm to unlock then run to gate and jump, now you can't. because ecm is an offensive action, thus you can't jump for a period of time.

This clearly is not thought through, as I posted in the other thread about the fubar agressions system:
If you go pirate hunting and you get too damaged you can no longer get to the nearest station to repair your ship.
Not everybody has ISK to fly battleships that can hold 2 repair modules on it 24/7 while still having 2 defensive med slots and a afterburner/mwd fitted. ------------------------------------------------ CCP please fix your patch so I can play with my corpmates again soon. |

now in war only miners and hauler will run away...
and people will not jump or dock to fix them self

First target or fire = no access
Defensive ECM = access Offensive ECM = no access
Defensive fire = access (although not sure)
I verified defensive fire was working like that on Chaos a while back, some people now say it is "no access" on tranquility?
Edit: If defensive fire is no access you dont get the situation of "noone wants to go first" so I'm for that but then it needs to be fixed so NPCs dont lock you down when you smoke them for a few extra k.

The idea is, ANY aggressive act (whether you started it or not) blocks you for 60 seconds after your finished fighting.
If your not going to kill the npc rats, DON'T SHOOT AT THEM.

Frankly it should boil down to if you activate an offensive weapon on another player u shoudl be denied otherwise you should be able to run away or kill npc pirates without consequence.
The forethought on part of CCP needs to be expanded.. this current method of stick ideas into players laps although it may be a good idea is a complete waste of time and resources and will ultimately lead to many people leaving because no one wants to pay for more hassles in their life! they want to play and have fun!

Same deal in eve... if you are attacked, you are not allowed to defend yourself, cos you're not a "nice guy" anymore. Hell yea, next time Ill just eject so that people can pod me AND take my ship undamaged...
