Now that I have trained skills and taught myself how to scan efficiently, I wanna go do a little exploration with some risk. Not afraid of losing ships, but also am quite aware of when I am being trolled. Don't waste my time, thanks. So hit me with a good ship, fit, or whatnot for Low/0.0 Explo. Or should they just be ninja'd in a Cov Ops? |

Cov Ops is the way to go.
Beware of people camping the sites waiting for you, explore the systems that are least traveled. |

Covops is perfectly adequate. Nullified T3 is almost invincible if you know what you're doing. |

nullified t3 if you're paranoid
covops is more than adequate and all you're losing is 70mil or so if you ever do get popped (if your scanning skills are good enough and you're using a helios you can forgo the sisters probe launcher even) |

Well, thanks a lot for the advice. Kinda figured that a CovOps was the way to go. Didn't really want to shell out isk for a T3 that I didn't need. Though I suppose it could come in handy if I wanted some PvP on the side. Thanks again for the advice. |

Not sure if you multibox but my method is to have a cov ops exploring and a AF ratting, then when PVP presents itself the two team up to take out targets of opportunity. |

Pilgrim was my go-to lowsec exploration ship before the mad new changes, no idea if you need the tank/dps still. but It sure feels alot nicer than a cov-ops. sort of middle ground between one and a t3. |

*comforts Nihassa's Pilgrim*
Shhh, it's okay. What did that bad person do to you? It's okay, you'll find some juicy PVP eventually.

You can't just say "low/0.0" explo. They are two different things. I would even go so far as to split 0.0 into 3 different categories of pay style.
For low sec you will want to keep it cheap. There are just too many hunters. One good thing about the easy access to low sec space however is the ease with which you can use multiple ships. Probe the sites down in a cov-ops for the speed and security. Then switch to a t1 scan frig for the actual work. Since you will need to decloak to hack the cans it is nice to mitigate losses (there will be losses) by using a t1 where risk is involved.
For deep 0.0, ninja style, this is not an option. You will need to do it all in the same ship but the risk is actual much lower while hacking. The risk in an operation like that is in travel between border systems. This can easily be negated by using worm holes as your extraction point. It may add a few jumps to your route home but at least they will be low/high sec systems.
For sov space... well nothing is really as safe for bearing it up as sov space. Just do what you're doing now but with Ann Eyre on the Intel channel.
NPC 0.0 is like low sec for pro's. You can dock up and re-ship but honestly the less time you spend at transition points like stations and gates the better.
I do a bit of exploration myself but I only run the sites when I get bored. I usually just bookmark them then surprise the legitimate explorers when they show up. If I could offer you any advice it would be to forgo the warp core stabs for a small tank and a weapon. Most explorers don't bother to tank electing to run instead and rightfully so. However, we pirates know this so most of us use light dps, double scrams & also forgo a tank. It would ruin a pirate's day to sneak up on an explorer just to get pointed and sploded.
Good luck out there! |

That is actually really great advice. Split up each, and broke em down for me......nice.
Lowsec - Done a little here and there, however I have found myself sucking down gas sites in a secondary Venture, as I have found a few systems that are loaded to the brim with gas sites............so the past couple of days, I have gotten sidetracked by that. But you have, as well as my experiences in the past couple of days, proved to me that it is much more prudent to use a handful of T1's, rather than risk the 70-80mil for a Cov Ops with a Sisters Launcher (Have Astrometrics to 4, and the support skills to 4.........currently specced to Willpower/Perception.......Hence the Sister's module.)
Deep 0.0? This I would like an explanation for, as I am not sure what you mean. Are you meaning the outer fringe systems of a respective outer regions? Like Tenal for instance? Clarification would be awesome, thanks.
Sov Space, I have't had the chance to run, but if I plan to, it will be up north, where I have a friend or two in a coalition that isn't afraid to shoot blues . But chances are, when I do try running them, I will again run an alt, this time in a Recon, so that I can have "backup" on a larger scale, if you catch my drift, lol.
NPC 0.0, I totally get your warning. My first null experience was in Stain......so I can just transfer tactical's and perches to other characters to help with the transition points. Same with Syndicate and Outer Ring. If I choose to do that at some point (probably not in Syndicate, lmao), I will more than likely run a cloaky, nullified explo T3, again with hotdrop support.
As I can tell you are what people would call a "proper pvper," you can rest assured that I won't dump warp stabs in my lows, lol. I have spent so much time in FW, that I simply think of asshats like that as farmers who are after my own hard work. I'd prefer a fight any day of the week, to being a douchenozzle and running and hiding, lol. However, it is tough to get a beefy tank onto a Cov ops, and still work in your equipment to analyze and what not. Donbe's advice above to dual box my explorations has actually come in handy, as it gives me a solid combat ship, a Recon for batphoning, or something else to provide a little bit of protection. At least while I am playing solo. Not to mention it gives you a second d-scan to pound while you have that crappy hacking window open. So far, with only a week or so under my belt in the explo field, I have yet to lose something, so I suppose I am doing something right. So much easier, when you are running two chars. |

By deep 0.0 I just meant unused space. Not a border, not on a pipe, not necessarily unclaimed but unused space. By sov I actually meant sov that you are a part of but I like your style man.
