I've recently moved far away and my computer won't connect to wifi, and it will be a while until i can get wired internet running. Is it possible to update skill training with a smartphone or something? Thanks in advanced |

If you have a smartphone you can share the Internet connection with your pc as long as it isn't a stock iPhone.
I have played eve using my android phones connection without issues. Dominique Vasilkovsky Mashie Saldana Monica Foulkes |

I can do this with an iPhone 5 on Verizon. The connection works to set training but I wouldn't try to do anything else though.
I don't think you're allowed to have someone you trust log on to your account and set training for you. It would be nice if CCP allowed this for some situations.

most smart phones can either tether or have a mobile hotspot feature.
If your PC does not have wifi and can not connect through the mobile hotspot, you should still be able to tether with a USB cord and get internet access through your phone. Even my old V3 razor phone could do this.
Unless you have an unlimited data package that includes tethering I would not use this for more than skill updates though.
I know my android with Telus has 6 GB per month data, and includes hotspot and tethering. I use it often when at my inlaws farm as I get a way faster connection through my phone, than their rural DSL has. |

I am currently between residences (my new apartment is being renovated, and won't be available until Aug 8th), so I am familiar with the issue.
I've used wifi at: * Hotel (really poor) * Restaurants (good on average) * Cafes (really poor) * Stores (excellent, but some allow access [eg. Lowes], some don't [eg. Best Buy], and that could vary by store). * Friend's homes (surprisingly bad, because they don't rely upon it).
Tethering my phone is the only completely reliable method I've found, though my carrier does have exceptional coverage. I have a 1 GB of data plan, and thanks to wifi I rarely use over half of that. |
