Edited by: ToKE on 16/08/2003 12:59:13 To give CCP a general idea of customer satisfaction with this last patch would you score the patch on a scale of 1(low) to 10(high)
I would give it a 3 for not being thought out well enough

I give it a 1 because it didn't fix stupid bugs that have been around since day 1 like local bleed and the shared cargo container bug.
Local Bleed - When your local chat channel fills up with hundreds of people from other systems. I've noticed when that number gets really high so does my lag.
Shared Cargo - Take a friend to any asteroid field and both start mining. Get him to jettison some ore and then open the container yourself and start putting ore in it. Try to stack the ore and you will see the bug. Devs say they can't reproduce it. This is the easiest bug to reproduce in the entire game!
There are others but they don't enrage me like these two do. Until the stupid "been here forever" bugs are fixed patches will ALWAYS get a 1 rating.
CCP, don't tell me this post was not constructive. I explained how to reproduce one of the stupidest bugs in the game that you say you can't reproduce. That's very constructive!

I'd like to add a 4.
I hate the way we travel since the patch.
There is no logic to it either... My autopilot is so dumb it's not capable of using the ab's to turn faster befor warping? what's the deal?
crap.
And WERE are those trade skills?

Edited by: Indigo Seqi on 16/08/2003 13:36:46 Forgive me, but I haven't been able to check the latest patch yet.
So, how exactly are we travelling since this latest patch? What changed?

If you just look at bugs, I give this patch an 8. It fixed the following:
- Agent-related faction loss bug. - Cap drain bug. - Skills and BP's that were missing were added. - Problems with 1.0 security. - Autopilot bugs.
And countless other minor bugs.
If you look at the effort they put in the morning of the patch, I give that a 10, otherwise we would have had either no patch, or a patch where you couldn't mine or open containers at all.
Overall in the history of patches, it's an average patch. They're all like this: some bugs are fixed, and some others are introduced. My personal, non-expert opinion, is that they get a relatively stable patch on Chaos, and instead of marking that for "LIVE", they strive forward and destabilize it with additional features they want to put in, and then the morning of the patchday the scramble about trying to fix the new bugs.
I have never seen Tranquility patched to a version that is NOT the current Chaos.

a 4, because it has some good updates with it yet the bugs are even more ingame. Something i vote that has priority above balancing. __________________________

I'd give it a 1. CCP should have known that making uber police that respond instantaly would trap low sec players in empire space. We have been though this before, but again they made the same mistake. --------------------------------------- CSM Chat Log September 25, 2003: Fuhry> Some things we simply cannot test, and therefore we just put it on Tranq. cross our fingers and then get into panic m |

i would give it a high rating till i realize all i lost... i can't use microwarp.. which is the most important.. when your stuck... it help alot for things that wouldnt' happen if i was in that ship... either let us phase or put micro warp back... cause atleast it help.. then the invulnerbility shield.. .. sure kill to 25% fine.. but atleast fix it all the way.. and make it drain less capacitor.. 50 for a few seconds is just wrong... u only get 30 more resistance from the total.. and then i notice capacitor. regains slower while warping.. whats up with that? so not only u slow my travels... and supposenly killed the use of capacitor to save from unused capacitor.. but u slow it down killing the point.. and fix those 650mm dual large projectiles... and make it do as it claim.. twice damage from the medium of it's kind... large is 1.05 and medium is 3.25 .. it suppose to be the same but with large ammo... and stop killing projectiles... i was giving it a chance... you suppose to balance them all not kill one and let everyone defect to the other type of gun... oh well bye

I'd say 7. Good patch, lots of fixes, skills and bp's added, all good stuff. However they could have given our whiny pirate friends a little more advanced notice of being stuck in high sec systems, although it's partially thier own fault for not reading the patch notes and CSM's.

What have you been smokin? I make 30+ jumps per session through heavily populated systems, and have YET get bleed since patch.
Mind you, the # of local lags behind the actuall # in the system. So maybe this is your problem. It ain't over till the fat lady falls on ya!

- Cap drain bug. - Autopilot bugs.
Not sure about those two... I have had 3 occasions since patching of my displays reading at least 40% and not being able to use a module.
And the AP is still dropping out, requiring me to open and close the map screen for it to show a new destination... thats if it lets me into the map without a relog.
However, on the whole it has been a good patch, the new bps and npc behaviour is a welcome change.

i would give it a 3. the sound glitches are horrible now, the zbuffer problem is still in. Stability is a little bit better as before, but still a long way to a stable eve. overall looking is worse too, heavy lags, shooting/mining on near objects, ... but the biggest problem are atm the damn CTDs, sometimes i get 4 ctds every minute, and sometimes i can play hours, but doing everytime the same thing ... killing npc pirates. so im sorry, but i dont think that the guys will ever make it and fix all the heavy bugs. in every patch they fix some bugs but generally they add more so that we have more and bigger bugs than before. hope i be wrong.

I say a 4.
Its good Astrogeology is finally in, it helps alot. New skills and BPs also good.
But the most frustating and even could be a showstopper if it stays this way is the no modules in warp "fix". This thing annoys me so much just hanging there waiting for warp to start and getting shot at. Try jumping right after leaving a station, u bump it a few times then no more speed, well the waiting starts. Either after warp starts you are invulnerable, speed up instantly and are transparent or fix it so it can see at forehand u cannot warp and make it so u can't. Another possible fix could be, cancel warp button so u can try again, or run when u get stuck in a roid, since u can use modules again. Pirates can scramble u then u cannot warp at all, but after u are able to u should be able to get away, its that simple. -------------------------------------------------------------

and a lot new CTD features are added!

Man, what an ungrateful group of whiners
This patch seemed to signal something very new - CCP made a patch that DIDN'T introduce tons of bugs. If you've been around, you'd kno that's like... amazing. It's still not the greatest patch and I would've liked to have seen more bug fixes (as well as gravity-field bug fixed before MWD and AB was limited) but oh well, there's always next patch. I give it a 7.

MyzteRio - had the best poits, when you activate warp but get stuck you used to use after burners or MWD to move out far enough to then begin warping.... now you just sit there.
I would originally give a 7 for the patch as we had some new content changes and skills, so you feel your moving forward.
Then after the problems with the crashes etc I would lower my score to 4.
I do know the guys are working hard so the mark represents customer satisfaction, if ya paying to play then you want to play.
any way roll on implants, player stations and more skills

Edited by: Shock on 18/08/2003 11:26:11 + 1.0 is now really secure + Agent wiping your standings clean is fixed + New skills + No more MWD blockade running + No more station docking fights (though the gate lockdown is a joke) + Bigger sec containers + All ECM now offensive + Limited blueprintcopies (only 2 months too late!)
Things that should have been fixed by now:
- STILL BLEEDING CHAT!!! - Bigger sec containers bugged (CCP can't do anything right the first time) - Existing blueprint copies grandfathered (like the market isn't saturated already, only harming newcomers) - Where is gate-to-gate jumping? - Autopilot is gone totally mad.
Things that need to be fixed soon:
- Sec containers should get 1 week lifespan then it can be picked up by everybody - Missiles still expensive blanks (they should be the most feared weapon but costing a fortune) - Frigates still no tactical value (the game is nothing more then a race to get a battleship and cruisers are already more common then frigates) - Market orders need to be handled chronologically (so they are actually completed instead of being hijacked all the time.) - No response, not even a late one to campers in 0.4 - 0.2 space. Give the CONCORD a 15 to 30 mins response after which they stick around a while so it can be raided but not camped.
I give it a 7 because a lot has been fixed. But a lot still hasn't. They really tried to make a difference with this patch and showed they actually listen to the wishes of community (larger cans, station lockdown), though typically they don't do it right at once.
It definatly one of the best patches if not the best. Sadly that still means it's only above average
To all those people screaming '1', please grow up. It not like we want you to give it a binary value. --- soonÖ |

Before this patch eve had CTD maybe once every 2 hours. Now it does CTD within 5 minutes, sometimes 5 seconds. Its unplayable. Through an ingame chat with a buddy (a very broken chat, as both of us had to keep restarting eve after CTD) I found I'm not the only one who has had this effect from the patch. All my drivers are up-to-date, all other games of mine run fine... bottom line, I can't play EVE until the next patch, so my ú13 per month had damn well better get spent on dev overtime until then. |

I love the new Trash it option, I haven't got a single CTD (not counting nodes going offline) and so on.
Only thing that is bad is the MWD nerf, now it takes more time to travel. But you people saying you get stuck in warp, how do you do? I have never got stuck in warp, ever! Not in retail, not in 2 months beta...how do you do that?

Heh, 3300 users online right now, when in the past I repeatedly saw 5k or more. I smell a pattern ....
No, don't turn this into a debate of that figure for some shred of an attempt to pull the basis for my opinion out from under me.
Fact is, I never CTD in the past. Now it's constantly and at the worst times. I thought something was wrong with my computer ... then I read this. I mean, c'mon. This is a step backwards, not forwards. Several steps backwards. LOTS of steps backwards. Right out the door ...
Can't do anything now when the thing is just sitting there, waiting to go to warp? That's a cancel-my-account-now-button right there. Instead of fixing the bug of taking forever to go to warp while I'm getting ripped apart by pirates and NOT being jammed, they INSTEAD complicate it and make it more painful.
This patch is in the negatives in my rate.
Oh and the general attitude of anti-whining is so... mid 90's newsgroups, that it's painful to watch. Please shut the F up if you have a problem with negative comments.
Jesus H, folks, persecuting people for their negative opinions as a method of writing off those opinions is pathetic. Some people are happy in this game, others are not. Just because you are happy doesn't mean you get to sing la-la-la and tell all those who aren't having fun right now to stop "whining" ...
Why? Fact is, nearly every single criticism I see on these boards has some real facts backing it up. You may not understand it that way, but that's because if you did, you'd have that negative opinion too. See how it works?
A lot of people aren't happy because the game is CHANGING ... it's changing so fast, that it's pulling the rugs right out from under them. Entire tactics obliterated, ship configurations ruined. Time and time again. I don't want to keep up with the changes. I like to sit down at a game and learn it and play it. Find my niche and get good at it. I've played this game since beta, and I LOVED it then .. I LOVED it in the beginning ... and now it's changing entirely and I'm not finding myself able to have fun anymore.
Then, to that... I get this whole "Well then you just aren't suited to online gameplay because blah blah blah changes TWICE as badly." <--- More anti-whining. Tell me, how constructive is that? It isn't. At all.
This game is heading downhill very rapidly...
Don't think the sky is falling? HAH... tell me how much ammo you've sold lately? What market is there for frigates? When was the last time you went on a mission?
Better yet, what all *have* you sold, besides everquestish rare items that cause everyone to run to the baddest pirate out there for that one special drop. The very concept that the creators of this game TRIED to make non-existant. Yet here it is ... and it's all that the game is about now.
Facts stand, negative or not. [BTLS] Canis Lupus Military Lt. General - "I was around before all the dummies became mans best friend." |

To those saying the game is dying it's false , i have been selling frigate not in high quantity but i sold 4 merlin and 4 punisher over 1 week and a half . The new player are always coming trough , buti have seen a lof of them turning back due to the huge amount of time it takes to do stuff .
The only drawback in this patch is that we cannot use the MWD or AB to get unstuck from asteroid or other large collidable objects that takes forever to realign from ...

So so you know, since half of you guys are obviously not informed. The Majority of CTD's are not problems with the code. But due to Internet Instability as of late due to certain viruses causing havoc and DNS attacks. Also, if you CTD alot, still, then you need to buy some antivirus software and update it so you can become part of the solution and not the problem.
As a whole, CCP is getting somewhere. I belive the market needs alot of help, as does player owned items. Theres alot of work that needs to be done still and CCP is getting there.
