So i was reading some posts and came to the conclusion that the iteron mark 5 was a good ship to get for mining (i have the ore mining ship i was using before then).
I have now bought the ship but am failing too see whats so great about it. it can only take one mining laser and cant take drones. Am i missing something or should i have got a different ship?
Thanks |

Use Venture or later Retriever to mine the ore and unload to station, then refine at the station and move the minerals for sale in the Iteron. However you need refining skills and corporation standings for the refining to be worthwhile, also the Iteron isnt THAT big if you mine lots, so you could aswell mine a LOT, and then use freighter contract. Or just mine in system with local buyer who pays fair price. |

If you are simply looking to mine and sell just to get isk, depending on where you mine, I am usually willing to buy everything you refine at a reasonable price. I'd give you a link where you can enter what you contract me, and it would show you the price, then you contract it to me for that price and I accept it. Drop me a mail if you are interested. I hope you are pulling our legs? A Iteron V is a hauling ship used for hauling. Depending which mining ship you use you won't need to haul when you are starting to mine.
It is recommended to get 6.70 effective standings for 'zero take' when refining your ore. You will also need Refining, Refinery Efficiency, & some of the ore processing skills for the ores you will mine to get your refining waste down to zero. Selling unrefined ore is literally throwing ISK down the drain except in exceptions such as selling raw scordite or Kernite in storyline agent mission stations.
If you don't have access to or own a freighter I recommend the Red Frog Freight service wholeheartedly. Make sure you set the collateral at the correct value and you will have no problems.
It is often best to save up your minerals until you have a lot to sell by which I mean 50 million units of Pyerite or 100 million units of Tritanium. Then join the Bulk Mailing List, read the listing rules carefully and place your advert. Wait for someone to open private convo with you - it won't take long. Be prepared to haggle and to receive some ridiculously low offers for you minerals given with an apparently straight face. People will try it on and who can blame them. You want to aim for a price between buyers and sellers prices at the trade hub you have hauled your minerals to. Voila. |

Selling raw ore isn't always "throwing isk down the drain". I buy ore at prices which are based around the minerals refined from the ore. Refining the ore requires refining skills and standing, which not everyone has the time or inclination to get, and requires hauling it to somewhere to sell. I currently accept ore across 2 regions in any high sec station so eliminate hauling, and I usually pay around 90-95% of the 100% refine yield price (equivalent of getting a 90-95% refine).
The main thing for people to know is how much the ore is actually worth, and how much you are going to gain from hauling and refining yourself. If you are just looking to get quick cash and don't want to worry of doing missions for standing and hauling it to a hub then sell it to a bulk buyer for a reasonable price.
