The EVE launcher just crashed on 2 out of my 4 pc's.
It goes to step 2/4 - Initializing, then I get this
Before you start blaiming this on my internet connection, my other 2 pc's updated the eve client without issues!
Any ideas?

Target payload could not be found.
2 computers connect perfectly to the servers and update, 2 others do not.
Both non working computers we're connected just before downtime! |

I get the exact same error message. Also, every step (intizializing...) takes much longer time than usual.
I have tried disabling both AV and Firewall, with no effect. |

It looks like one of their fileservers are down. That or the route to it. |

Tried to do a tracert to the fileserver, failed on the 2 computers that doesn't work.
All 4 computers are on the same network here though, so the route should / could be the same!?!?
... or not necesarily? |

Any way to force the client to use server 2 for updates? ** Copying the game from 1 of the working pc's to the other ** Guess it should work, but ain't really a solution to the issue.
The client spits out the url to the file, so i guess it could be downloaded manually by switching the subdomain. But then you're sitting with a .dat file that may or may not do anything. |

I got the exact same problem..
"The server you are connecting to could not be reached.
Please check your internet settings and restart the EVE: Online launcher.
The URL that could not be reached was: http://cdn1.eveonline.com/578717/RepairData_578717.dat" |

I suspect, and could very well be wrong, that someone is externally screwing with their launcher file servers from time to time. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

I fixed it by changing my DNS settings to OpenDNS.
IPV4 addresses:
208.67.222.220 208.67.220.222
IPv6 addresses:
2620:0:ccc::2 2620:0:ccd::2
Hope it works :) |
