Edited by: Spartan III on 19/12/2005 02:10:45 Which HAC do you think is the best for doing level 3 missions?
I have heard of the Ishtar being really good. I have also heard of the Cerb being quite amazing post-RMR.
I was personaly ganna train for a Zealot, but not so sure now.
I havn't gotten specialized yet, and I have almost as much SP in caldari ships/missiles as I do with Amarr(with the exception of slightly better gunnery in Lasers than hybrids). With my SP(about 4 mill) I am still young enough to change my patch and specialize and want to make a good decision.
Remember, I want a shipb that can pwn level 3 missions, but doesn't have to be good at anything else(such as pvp)...

If you believe the dev's there's no 'best' ship. There's just the right ship for the right job.
The amarr ships are nice as they have v. good armor resistances, but have the downsides of using lasers which really struggle against ships resistant to EM and thermal. Lasers also drain cap fast, which means you're probably going to spend alot of your slots on cap recharge/storage boosters.
Caldari ships aren't bad either... lots of mid slots for shield tankage etc, but again limited to that 2 type damage on hybrids. I kind of hate the look of most caldari ships, so don't generally use them. but that's just personal.
Gallente ships main strengths are their drones which really boost your damage, however they tend to go boom alot in npc missions. if you have to jet out in a hurry to regen, then scooping up your drones may keep you waiting that second too long meaning you go boom too.
My personal faves are the Minnie ships with t2 med autcannons. They're extremely resistant to EM and thermal, which mean they take next to nothing from lasers and are half way resistant to hybrids. They're fast which makes picking up cans less labour intensive, as well as able to close with about anything in their class, and most importantly for me... have the benefit of being able to do any damage type you like (is a huge benefit if you're not doing much with one type of damage). On top of this they can squeeze in a few drones which make taking out inty's less of an issue.

Sacriledge: 3xHeavy Pulse, 3xHeavy missles 10MN AB2, 1xweb, 2xcap rechargers 1xMed Rep 2, thermal & kinetic hards, dmg mod/cap
I use it for lvl4 missions. War is a conflict that determines not who is right -- but who is left. |

Not going for minnie ships at all so please don't recommend them.
Here are some basic questions for doing level 3 missions against mainly guristas, but also some angels, mercenarys, so on... Is the Ishtar better than the zealot for the above missions? If so is the Cerb better than the Ishtar? If so is there any non-minmitar HAC better than the Cerb?
And please don't contradict yourself

Short, simple answer. Cerberus
Why? Well, one look at your Info in game I can tell your doing Caldari Missions, so fighting quite a few Guristas (other rats of course, but mostly Guristas). Some Guristas can now Target Jam! Answer to target jammers? FOFs! And that my friend is why the Cerb is your choice. Now sure, drones are also good to kill those pesky jammers when they're working as they should, which would make the Ishtar a good choice, but then you get them shooting your drones and once they're gone you've lost a major part of your arsenal. Also you dont mention your Drone skills?
Going one step further, Guristas do Kinetic and Thermal damage right? Well Zealot isnt tanked for Thermal, Ishtar and Cerberus are.
Anyway. Cerberus :)

I use a Sacrilege for lvl 3 missions in Minnie Space (Angels and Sanshas), you can fit it amazingly!
4x 150mm Rail IIs 2x xr-3200 Heavies
1x 10mn AB II 1x X5 Webber 2x Cap Rechargers
2x Medium Rep IIs 1x 1600mm Plate 3x Energized Membranes (situation dependent)
With good membranes, tech II or my fav Dark Blood (40%), you can have EVERY resist on the armor above 80%. After that what else do you need? Oh and it's got hybrid guns because they suck less cap do a better range of dmg (you can get shield stripping power from the heavies so the lasers arent needed there) and I have the skill for em...
I could prolly take a lot of the tank out for lvl 3s and add some dmg mods, but I like being on the safe side in case I get surprised by some new RMR mishie...

no.... ;) well.. I heared that Post-RMR-patch Cerb is very good. (I fly Muninn) and my friend using Cerb finished Angel Extravaganza in 25 minutes - he is winning with me by 1 minute...
range, missiles, no tracking problem are what is best in Cerb... -------- Akip -------- Your 720mm Howitzer Artillery II perfectly strikes Mobile Residence, wrecking for 1183.7 damage. |

After patch, Cerberus is probably one of the best choices, if not the best.
Ishtar *is* nice, but drones tend to go boom a lot and are a hassle.

Edited by: Halkin on 19/12/2005 11:17:50 i only fly gal but have found the ishtar to be a cool ship tho a little pricey setup
Hi slots: 3 x t2 150mm or t2 light neuts (depend on how close the rats get, though now the serps dont even seem to come that close) 1 med remote rep
Med: 1 x x5 proto webber 4 x t2 cap rech
Lows: 2 or 3 specific hardeners dependent on npc's Either 1 med t2 rep or 1 med and 1 small t2 rep, hinges on how many hardeners needed 1 x 1600mm tungsten plate
works for most Lv4 missions, but can be time consuming and also as someone stated drones tend to pop

So are you saying to ONLY use FoFs for Caldari missions and do less damage? Or to switch ammo to FoFs every time I get jammed?
I just realized while writing this post that FoFs won't actually do less damage if the heavy missile skill bonus and the FoF skill bonus both apply to FoF missiles. Is this trua and they will do normal damage of the FoF skill is at level 5? Or will the heavy skill bonus mutiply from the FoFs original damage(120) and give 7.5 less damage than a normal heavy missile?

I use it for lvl4 missions.
Nice. I take it that this is a good solo setup for lvl4's? Can you take out BS's with this?

I have used it in lvl4's, but your milage may vary.
I used it extensively in 0.0 to kill serp spawns pre rmr, able to kill/tank 2 or 3 bs. War is a conflict that determines not who is right -- but who is left. |

FoF are just as effective if the skill are up to same as Heavy, I use them to no disadvantage, so the Cerb is way awesome, especially if you do Caldari missions. ------------------------------------------------

I use a Zealot with that setup:
4 heavy beam II (MF, standard, radio) 1 tractor beam
10MN AB II Patterned web Eutectic cap recharger
Med armor rep II Thermal hardener 2 adaptative nanos II cap relay 2 Heat sink II
I have no trouble doing any lv3 mission (even some of the new ones, like tech secrets part 3), and with good skills your cap doesn't run out, unless you keep everything activated.

I use almost the same. But the tank is waaay over the top for lvl3 missions. Rather go with some more heatsinks and dump the energized
High: 4x Heavy Beam II with MF, Xray, Standard (and Gleam/Auroras for fun)
Med: 1x 10mn AB II 1x Fleeting Web 1x Eutectic Cap Recharger (no t2 on principle... stupid prices)
Low: 1x Med Armor Rep II 1x Thermic Hardener II 4x Heatsink II 1x CPR
OR (if you like to perma-tank) 3x Heat Sink II 2x CPR -----------------------------------------------

I use this sacrilege setup for soloing lv4's: 3x Heavy Pulse II, or Heavy Beam II 3x Arbalest Heavy Launcher
1x 10mn Afterburner II 1x Web 1x Target Painter II
1x Med Repper II 3x Various armor hardeners, mission-dependent. 1x CPR if using heavy pulse, 1x PDU II if using heavy beams.
Setup with pulse lasers is capable of taking out most ships. Only problems I've had is with the mordus mammoth and the 2.5M guy at the end of vengeance. But thats when I get out "The Hammer", my gankageddon :)
