So, I have been running around in low sec a bit of late in T1 and T2 frigs. I typically only run either an ENAM, DCU and possibly a hardener for any holes and a repper. After a recent encounter where, had I had a bit of buffer I could have crashed a gate, I am considering needing a bit of buffer.
Should I consider dropping in a plate, with the ENAM and repper for these occasions?
I get I will lose some speed and the repper will have to work harder, but might it provide a needed increase in survivability? |

Not knowing what ship you are flying. Nor knowing the whole fit tends to limit advice.
I prefer to have buffer fit no matter what..Not a fan of active tanks for pvp. (Others will swear by them) |

I did not post fits due to the variable frigs I fly. but lets take one for example - the Wolf.
so obligatory highs, proally a T2 Nos, scram in the mid and I typically run an MWD.
So lows tend to be a hardner or ENAM repper and a DCU, the rest will be damage mods, with the buffer fit I went for more tank with a 400 plate, ENAM, SAAR and a DCU.

When you fit a 400mm plate will you lose a lot of PG and also a fair amount of speed and gain inertia. Perhaps first try to fit a Reactive Armor Hardener instead. If this is not enough tank might you want to get into a bigger ship. Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling. |

I have not yet tried the RAH. Tank is typically only an issue when I need to crash a gate. Course, come to think of it I had an AB fit that time and not an MWD. |

Personally I find frig hulls do really well with both repper and buffer. You need the buffer to get into a situation where the reps can start to count and you need the repper to keep you in the fight. On the wolf i'd use rigs to plug the resist hole and stick a 200mm plate, possibly even lose eanm for gyro.
I'd recommend not going anything below a 200mm as you wont even notice it! - 400mm is great if you can fit it, but like whitehound mentioned it really takes it out of your pg, so you'd be downgrading guns or losing the repper. |

I believe (correct me if I am wrong) The nos is one of the cases where the meta4 out performs the T2 variant. Or was it same output is the same but fitting easier? |

Don't put a RAH on a frigate. You won't have the cap to use it, and its effect is only valuable if it's backed up with a large buffer to begin with. |

What do you have to contribute to the discussion besides ship toasting? Nothing... Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling. |
