any thoughts on these?
I see the three programs EVEMon, EFT, and EveHQ brought up in Help chat a lot. which of them is best for a newbie to use?
also, do you have any suggestions for In-Game-Browser accessible resources to use while playing? |

Well, I don't know about EveHQ but I do use EveMon and EFT. Both are great resources. Also search with google, it's actually a great resource for info. The Evelopedia is a little outdated but still has a lot of info and guides available as well.
For ship fits, I use Battleclinic as a basic guide and do a mock fit up in EFT with my skills active. Then I start doing variations of the initial fit until I get max stats for both HP's and DPS.
Good luck and welcome to Eve.

I've been using EVEmon and EFT for probably 4 years now.
I find EVEmon to be essential. I check it constantly.
I tried EVEhq and pyfa, but never liked them.

thanks both of you.
I'd still like to see some opinions form some folks who primarily use EVEHQ, particularly why they use it instead of the EFT/Evemon combo.

Potato vs Potato
EVEHQ is an all in one, it has the skill planner, fitting tool, item browser, pi manager, pos manager, Prism (assets), RouteMap and Void.
I have all 3 of them installed, I use evemon for my skill queues just because I like it more, its easy to use and its not a resource hog (plus its portable).
Sometimes i use EFT and sometimes i use EVEHQ for the fits.
Its more of whichever you used first is what you get use too, just like a web browser. You get used to whatever you use and a change is not welcomed :) |

I use all 3 tools, depending on what I want to do...
EveHQ I tend to use when managing my assets or figuring out what to refine and what to sell. I also use it when I want to create a skillplan for a specific ship, I find the manipulation of the skills required for the ship easier than in EFT, and skills such as engineering etc that you need to fit the ship can also be adjusted and then exported to a skillplan.

is there a program to browse the Market while out of game, to go along with the Evemon/EFT combo? or do you typically just use a website/mobile app for that sort of thing? |
