Hey all,
When I started EVE a few days ago, I selected Caldari for RP reasons basically - they sounded the most interesting to me, most interesting background, etc. Now I hear they are far and away the most popular empire. I'm wondering how bad it is... are they just a bit more popular, or is it a "more Caldari than any other 2 empires put together" type thing? I've always been one who prefers to join a less populous "underdog," so I can't help but ask so I can consider switching before I get too invested.
Thanks!

If I remeber correctly yes Caldari had the largest population the last time a dev released the figures. But in recent times I would have to say I'm seeing more Amarrian Chars now.
Although I could be wrong.
On the other hand if you want to play a underdog race I beleive Minmatar are the lowest in population currently.
Perhaps a someone at CCP (Oveur/Kieron) could shed light with the new population numbers now. ------------------------------------------------- Statement of the Obvious
Contrary to Popular belief - it is NOT possible to walk on water.

Thanks for the info! I really do like Caldari from an RP standpoint - so if they aren't grossly overpopulated I'll likely stick with them... I don't mind them being largest necessarily, as long as its not something ridiculous like 2:1 to the second most populous empire.

Edited by: Moominer on 19/12/2005 09:13:21 There is no real "underdog" of race in EVE like you get in other MMOGs, as there is no real conflict between the four races. There is heightening tension, but no all out conflict as of yet.
This may change with the next "expansion" due in 2006- Kali, which has some form of factional warfare planned, though we know very little about what they plan to do with it.
Conflicts in EVE are between player entities, corporations, alliances, or pirating/griefing. And as such, are pretty much faction irrelevant. You can find out more at the Diplomacy Table and Territorial Map
Note: there are some roleplaying factional player corporations/alliances who fight each other, but they are entirely optional to join, someone will probably fill you in with more detail about them, as frankly, roleplay sends me to sleep Eve Fitting Manager |

Race only effects your starting attributes, starting ships, and apperance. After that, you can fly and use absolutely anything you like as long as you train for it...
The Caldari get the best base Perception and Willpower (the attriutes used in training ship and gunnery skills) hence why so many people started characters as them. ___________
Dont mind me, I'm Forum-Whoring cause I dont have anything better to do with my life...
