As it says in the subject, when I focus my probes to greater strengths on most cosmic signatures, they disapear. Am I doing something wrong, or is it a matter of lacking skill? I have Astrometric III trained (working on IV), Amarr Frigate IV, and Astrometric Acquisition I. |

First, check your filters. If you're losing signatures at 25% then chances are that they are of a type you don't have selected.
If that's not it -- ie, if you have all signature types selected -- then it's a deviation problem. Keep plugging at skills.
I suspect filters. |

There is an error marging, always keep:
If it is a large globe: scan area as big as globe If it becomes a small red dot, make scan area 1x smaller, center the dot in it
This will either give you a more accurate position, or you loose the signal. If you loose the signal, make the scan area 1x bigger again
It is also possible that someone completed the anomaly while you were scanning it (hint: use combat probes and show all) |

I am filtering everything except Relic/Data sites, since that's all I'm looking for. |

Don't do that. It doesn't filter anything until you have a strong enough signal to ID the type (which happens at 25%). And of course when you cross that threshold you have no way to know whether you lost the signal to deviation of your filter.
tl;dr: filters are entirely useless and really ought to be removed. |

Ah, I see. Thank you very much. That explains a lot. |

yeah i never bothered with filters because when you see which type of signature it is you can choose to ignore it yourself or continue scanning :) |
