Toatal noob, but have installed and played on my old laptop. Only the laptop crashed (not related to Eve), so i borrowed a computer. It runs Windows 7 and has all the systems required to play.
So I installed EVE, and everything seemed fine. But after having logged in and press "play" a cmd-window popped up, and then it said "does not respond". Have tried restarting computer, troubleshoot, uninstall and reinstall... Same problem...
Eve dosn't launch.
Anyone know what to do? |

Thanks, already did. Seems most of their problems was due to a) bug in Eve that has been fixed lately, or b) problems with firewalls and such. Will try the repair tool now, though :) |

Yeah, I did. Same problem. Eve launcher opens. Pressing play, the file seems to start to run, but it doesn't, and then it says "Not responding"...

Try starting EVE from the folder, instead of using the launcher: eve.exe |

Have tried this. The launcher window opens (this is never a problem, it does from short-cut as well). But after having logged in, I press Play - and the only thing happening is an icon popping up in the task bar (the line where you can get start-menu, and where running programs show). But this icon soon says "Not responding". I'm stuck. |

Are you running it on your old laptop or a computer?.
If its the old laptop, then that is the problem. |

Ok so you are running it on a desktop PC.
Have you checked the system requirements?.
CPU that supports SSE2 (Streaming SIMD Extensions 2) GPU with 256 MB VRAM or more, that supports Shader Model 3 & DirectX 9.0c
Have you checked make sure your DirectX is updated and all other required divers? |

Not sure, but it might be a windows permissions thing. To test, find the exe for the client (not the launcher) right click the exe file and run as admin. |

Running as admin won't help anything.
Dell Vostro 200 would meet the criteria.
Locate your eve exe file, eg C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe
Start > Run and type in cmd and hit enter.
In the command prompt.. type in the entire path to your exefile.exe as like above.
This will try and run the game, it will say not responding. Check the cmd window and see if it give you any error logs or anything like that
DirectX - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
It is probably something that needs updating, it could be the .net framework etc. Windows fully uptodate? |

You tried to right click as admin the client, not the launcher right?
Also, might want to make sure the graphics drivers are up to date. |

You know, I'm not that used to CMD... And I can't find the correct path... It's located in E: and a map called "Eve online" but I'm not sure how to make CMD understand that

Windows right?. Are you able to locate it using the file explorer?.
You can either just type in the full path eg for me it would be C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe or you can do the longer way of going cd C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\bin\ (enter) then exefile.exe (enter) |

Right, it's way past midnight where I'm sitting, and having tried fixing for hours (and reading hints and tips about the game in between) I'm off to bed. But thank you, everyone who has tried helping! And I really appreciate if you'd like to continue (my) tomorrow.

Right, so I tried running in cmd. Same problem.
Also ran EveOnline\bin>ExeFile.exe /debug Didn't get anything from that. It start to run for a while, than simply stop. No error logs, no explantions.
In short, I give this machine up. If anyone has any exellent ideas, I'll be happy - for the time being I only hope my old laptop will survive and get better after som fixing, and then be able to play again.
Again - thanks to all of you for trying to help! |

That is quite strange, have you tried running it in safe mode?. Play EvE (Safe Mode)?.
DirectX is up to date? .NET Framework is up to date? GFX Drives up to date?
Goto the exe file and right click > troubleshoot compatibility (Don't know if this will help any) |

I tried running in safe mode, but same problem. I also did try troubleshoot, and DirectX and others was up to date...
Conferred with geek friend, and we agreed to give it up. Our best guess is that the machine I tried to use previously has been used primarily for programming, and might have som obscure programs running (or something along those lines) that interfere with gaming.
Same geek friend is fixing laptop, so my best hope is that he manages to revive it If not, I suppose I'll have to buy a new one...
But really, Wafflehead - thanks! |

If you believe there may be something running that could be causing the problem then disable all non-Microsoft services.
Start > msconfig
Should bring up the System Configuration settings, if you choose 'Diagnostic Startup' and click Apply and restart. This mode loads Windows Basic Drivers and Services. It will ignore anything that's not critical to get you to the desktop and get you working.
Try eve then without loading any other programs.
Also you could try loading windows in safe mode (with networking).
If all fails, you could always reformat and re-install windows :) |

Actually I've given back the borrowed PC, and hopefully I'll get my own laptop tomorrow. But if ever such a problem occurs again, I'll know who to ask for help! You've been great, thanks a million (again) :)
