Why aren't there resistance mods for hull tanking? (damage control and bulkheads should not be all inclusive for it). Amarr ships have the highest armor so they excel in armor tanking. Caldari excel in shields, Minnies are a balance of both, and Gallente has highest hull hp. Give gallente ships hull resistance bonuses and hull repping bonuses! |

No it's not, gallente ships used to hull tank near release, but CCP changed that as it was stupid. |

It would certainly add some flavor and wtfbbq moments to the game, but I don't know if serious hull tanking could be a thing. I for one would like to see it work. Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot. |

No, it would take too much balancing to make it any good. There is so much **** that would need to be changed Mods, ships, add in rigs, just to make it work, that it is not worth it by a long shot. |

Hull is there to give you some time to realize just how badly you f***ed up before you lose your ship. It's not there for tanking anymore. |

Remember bulkheads Taranis?
On a side note, I would say there should be some way to enhance the hull tank of a ship. I for one have been in many situations where having that extra hull hp from a Gallente hull saved my butt fighting a hull from another race. Example, Hurricane vs Talos in a brawl. Other example, Catalyst vs Thrasher. It really isn't something very relevant in a fleet fight but for solo and small gang pvp hull 'tanking' is some reality, especially with Damage Controls.
I'm of the very biased opinion that every ship needs a damage control, even if it is shield tanking. So if there were to be a way to make Damage Controls more effective in hull, say an ancillary Damage control which gives an extra 30-40% resists to Structure (yes something really, really high) could provide some interesting tactics. Such module would act like ASBs and AARs, taking some form of charge and have a fast cycle to make it so you can only use it for 30 seconds or less as a last ditch effort. This makes it interesting in shield tanked ships where you could trade a Nano for one of these and perhaps stay on the field for that extra 10 seconds needed to escape or to manage an epic kill. |

Well I for one think a lot of work would be required to "effectively" hull tank. For starters a Hull Repair module would need the amount repaired buffed to extreme amounts as it takes so damn long to rep even a small portion of the s.
Hull Tanking...I like the idea and the surprise it may just throw up in PvP encounters. My Feature\Idea:-á Fast Character Switching "XP Stylee"

I think the original point in the OP's post was to buff Hull Tanking no matter which race has most in it and Gallente was cited as an example perhaps? Fast Character Switching "XP Stylee" Undocking - More Routes Out of Station Here's my tear jar > |_| < Fill 'er up! |

Correct. I used Gallente as an example simply for the fact they may stand to benefit the most from such a buff, and thus would be the more obvious choice for using hull tank mods. Hull tanking as a whole should be addressed |

Cowards shield tank, brave newbs armor tank, and real men hull tank! If you've ever flown a ranis, 60% of your EHP is base hull + DCU! If you don't hit hull when dueling in the ranis, your enemy is so far below your combat capability you should feel bad for engaging.
That being said, hull tanks used to be more viable, withhull reppers in the mids and bulkheads in the lows. Truthfully, I'd like a little of this returned... Perhaps improve hull repper cycle times and cap-to-HP ratio, and perhaps add hull-oriented rigs to boost hull amount.

Hull Tanking Certificate:
This certificate represents an elite level of competence in the infamous practice of "hull tanking". It certifies that the holder can fully use all modules relating to hull tanking. The holder is aware that "real men hull tank", and also that hull tanking is really dumb. With this certificate, you've maximised your ability to rely on your structural systems to absorb damage, although hopefully you're smart enough to know what a daft idea that is.
I don't care if they say it is dumb, it takes guts to stick in a fight like that past shields and armor.
Buff that ability!

I think the entire point of hull tanking is the wtf their opponent gets when they think they've won. You bait them to fully commit to the fight by breaking your shield and armor relatively easily and then show them its not that easy to kill. The only thing I'd like to see is a resistance module for hull that is separate from a damage control.
Also in capital fights you can do a quick refit off your carrier and get that last bit of buffer so you can live a couple seconds more. |

What about a hull repper that uses a heavier form of nanite repair paste like ASBs? Then you don't have to tweak the rep value of other modules as hull tanking becomes a short term emergency tank with a hard capped duration. |

But balance my man, balance. But a AHB (Ancillary Hull Booster) should be available and should use something else to keep the flavours, perhaps Water for the Matari to maintain the rust look . Also more resist mods for Structure. It can't be a ASB (Ancillary Structure Booster) as that's know for Shields. Sorry if I missed a few posts, but I am sure quite a few people still hull tank.
You get roughly the same ehp as a few plates, but have a little more agility and free up rigs for dps. And in some cases can fit better ewar/weapons compared to the same EHP with plates. (On a few ships)
It would only need a slight tweak before it is too much better than armor tanking. |
