Since the invention of dual training, I've been using my alts to research, invention and copy stuff. I've been delving into T2 manufacturing and so far, I've found pretty decent success in the stuff I've made. Only problem is it really eats production lines and time when I do so when I could be making a variety of items instead of like 2-3 from multiple copies.
So I thought about turning my research and invention alts into T2 manufacturers on specific items ie. Caldari Missile ammo/frigates and T2 Drones/Gal Frigates while the other could be making t2 laser crystals and other stuff involving the other factions. That way I could free up my production lines on my main and also make use of production lines on these two other toons. Would be next to no management cuz each copy takes like a day to manufacture so I could check once a day. Couple questions involving that though:
1) Should I train for Production Efficiency 5 or would 4 be sufficient considering the abysmal ME/PE 2) Should I also use my alts lines to make the R.A.M. packs that Imma be running through 3) Is it worth making anything larger than small arms/frigates?
Any suggestions or if one could refer me to a previous topic that was similar to this, I would appreciate it. |

1 - PE 5 is a good idea. A large part of the profit margin lies within that last 5% for many items. (if you don't want to train it, look at T2 medium and small rigs. As the 5% often makes zero difference.) 2 - Just buy RAM from the market. They take up time you could be manufacturing items for real profit, and don't save you much by manufacturing them yourself. 3 - Yes. I personally make T2 cruisers mainly. The profit per hour is good, and requires less of my time than frigates, due to longer invention & manufacture times.
You should use a tool like www.eve-cost.eu to see things like how profitable cruisers are, how much of a difference PE 5 makes, and how much building your own RAM actually saves you.

PE4 is fine for some things. It's bad for others. Check the numbers in a blueprint calculator (like the one on my site ) to see which you should go for, with what you're looking to make.
R.A.M.: Look at the isk/hr for them, compared to the isk/hr for the things you'd be making with them. If it's similar, or better, make them. Otherwise buy them. Same with any other component, really.
There are many things worth making. Don't expect people to tell you what to make, as they won't want the competition. And remember, making it isn't enough. There needs to be a market for it. I've found that for T2 modules (Haven't checked on ships, but don't think it'd be different) PE isn't overly important as the expensive bits forming the bulk of the price (T2 components) are extra materials that aren't affected by it. PE is important to build the t1 and t2 components, though, but that can be done by one designated character. Ruthlessness is the kindness of the wise. |

Ya I have this toon I can make the t1 components with and just buy the t2 stuff. I looked at the t2 cruisers and they dont seem to make much profit. Seems like a larger investment in cash as well. So I think maybe mods are the best idea and frigates that actually do sell well. It's interesting though I never thought of this before. |
