I've got to say but the sound effect for weapons, particularly turrets sound poor compared to Inferno. Retribution introduced new weapon sounds and they're lifeless and weak with no depth.
Autocannon Projectile sounds.
I used to fly a Machariel and the projectile sounds are pretty awful, they sound like rustling paper bags and it really put me off fly the thing. The old sounds used to have depth like an after sound of the gun echoing off the hull.
Lasers turrets.
Now the laser sounds weak and like the other sounds they sound almost mono and muffed. In Inferno they used to have more depth and feel like you're firing some powerful or the enemy was.
Hybrid Turrets
All I can say he it these sound like plucking sounds, again the depth has been taken out to the point where I don't feel like the effects are making any contact, they feel so weak.
On top of that the sounds cut off(I've made a bug report for that), missiles sound about the same, each missile sounds good when hitting hulls and they have their own sound depending on the missile damage type. Kinetic sounds like a solid thud on the hull or shield, therm sounds like burning, EM sounds like electric shorting out after the impacted on the hull or shields, explosive quite satisfying as well. I have a Asus Xonar and Sennhierser headphone so I appreciate good sound quality but the sounds since Inferno are poor and ruin the immersion of the game for me. |

Love the idea with the missiles. Have it for projectiles as well as the standard firing sound. |

That might be good actually, works like missiles where turret damage has a different sound corresponding to it's damage type like missiles. |

I hadn't fired lasers in a while and my first impression after listening to the new sound was like "Huh, was that your anus?". Now I'm accustomed and they don't sound like shy farts, but certainly I liked the older sound better and don't get what was wrong with it.
But then, I also liked the jukebox and now i'm not listening to music because listening the same 5-6 tracks everytime an everyday is less than thrilling. The Greater Fool Bar is now open for business, 24/7. Come and have drinks and fun somewhere between RL and New Eden! |

The biggest dissapointment was the arties.
I miss the good old BOOM an artythrasher would make when it fired it's volley. Now it just sounds like something shooting a few pepples at the target.
But then again .... Does eve really have sound? We will never forget you Saede!
I bet you dont see things like this so often in EVE |

I swear it haves. I used to enjoy it as I've never run multiple clients but they've iterated it out of relevance. The Greater Fool Bar is now open for business, 24/7. Come and have drinks and fun somewhere between RL and New Eden! |

We need more of this and less of this. The latter is fine for medium lasers but if I recall correctly mega pulses sound exactly the same. |

I was so looking forward to flying my revived Abaddon. TBH even with my Harbinger, I felt that something was odd about the medium lasers, that they sounded lame, but I assumed I didn't remember. But what I definitely remembered was the awesome fun of firing 8 Tachyon beam lasers with my Abaddon. When I did a mission with it and heard nothing but a BBBBZZZZZFFFFF... WTH?! Why is CCP even wasting oh-so precious human resources on making new (boring) sounds while the existent ones are awesome?
It's one of those supposedly small things that have a huge impact, and considering that EVE mission design is kinda lackluster, predictable, non-immersive anyway, decent sound can make a huge difference. I cannot express how disappointed I feel about this. Before, the laser guns sounded just right. Now the opposite. It's like all the sincere fun and passion of space battles has been drained. Well, apparently many people have expressed this before me, so I don't have to write an essay. Just wanted to say that a change back to the old sounds (personally I can only speak regarding lasers) cannot happen soon enough. ... Yesterday would be too late.
Also, stripminers: I like the constant beam and the new color, but they still look and sound pathetic on a mining barge. Maybe this was requested by miners because they found the old sound annoying after a while, not sure, but I thought mining is supposed to be less AFK and more active involvement, and even if you prefer alt-tabbed mining, then you won't hear the miner sound anyway. AND we have the option to reduce the turret volume, so this is another thing I don't understand. Mining barges look wimpy now; it's like they're directing a target painter at the asteroids. The shape of the old effect was just fine, and so was the sound, although since I'm not a passionate miner anymore, I won't put special personal emphasis on this point. Just mentioning that it has the same feel about it as the gun turret sounds issue. |

OP have you tried turning off "Quieter Turret Sounds" in the escape menu? It feels like what you're describing has that box checked. |

I haven't been around long enough to know what the other sounds were. But I know I switched from training hybrids to projectiles and missiles because the hybrids just sounded like they were shooting spitballs. The projectiles are better, but I expected them to sound more like the cannons on a ship, instead they sound way too muted. Missiles are pretty good.. the launch and impact sounds are fairly satisfying. No idea about lasers, I've never used them. This is the rule:-á In Eve it's always a trick. If you don't think it's a trick, you just don't have enough experience to know what the trick is. That doesn't mean you shouldn't launch on that fool anyway and roll the dice. |

I recently tried 280mm (?) small artillery cannons, and while I don't know how they sounded before the changes, I was kinda disappointed by them, too. Even though they're small size turrets, they should reflect their type "artillery cannon" as opposed to "gatling autocannon", but in fact they're double barrel fast salvo type guns that sound like firecrackers. |
