Hi,
I am relatively new so shoot me down in flames if I am being dumb. Ok, I have an Eagle and tech II med rails, with pretty decent motion tracking etc (lvl IV). I am using an X-type (86%) webby on NPC inties in missions and ratting, and just not hitting them..ever.
What can I do to improve my hits? Drop down to 200mm rails for better tracking, or perhaps use a target painter to increase the inty sig size?
Any suggestions, as I am wary of losing my 80mill HAC plus 60mill shield booster just because I cant touch an inty (oh and btw I am using two heavy missile launchers in other top slots, but they dont seem to deal enough damage to take out an inty alone)
Thanks in advance

This is where the lack of a drone bay hurts. Potential solutions:
- 1 or 2 small size guns or missiles (2x assault launcher perhaps) - tracking enhancer mods
I don't recommend target painting as its not been useful for me in the past. Worth a try if all else fails though.

Use blasters, or maybe extra tracking computers?

the problem here is that inties have a very small sig radius, so anything except small guns -and launchers- will miss them.

If you cant snipe at em, eagle is plainly the wrong ship for it. Even blasters wont help you much, either bring support or fly the cerberus. Thats about the only advise i can give.

The further away you are the easier it's going to be to hit them, fit some longer range ammo and move out to 100km

All good advice, I don't think that two small launchers will pack the neccesary punch to take out inties, I may be wrong. Does anyonwe have experience of runnnig lvl III missions in an Eagle? And if so how do you deal with fast frigs?
TBH It seems I would be better running the missions in my harpy, the small rails eat the frigs for breakfast. But looking to rat in 0.0 is going to be risky.

Ok, the range thing, obviously if I get the time to hit them from distance no problem, but deadspace missions are risky.
I like the two webbies option, maybe I will ditch the TC. Although as I am not hitting them when they are at 40m/s, will them being at 5m/s make any difference?
Also the final loadout has no shield booster, but a large tech II extender - but wont that hit my own sig radius? And surely I have to pack my small gisti type A booster?
Are you able to pop inties just with the two assault launchers? As I can tank till the cows come home with my current setup.

I dont see why theyre giving you trouble, you should be able to hit them fine. Youre setup looks all good to me. But I guess you could try:
Switch webber for a 90% webber such as a fleeting -> definitely do this Switch a mag stab/PDU (or two) to a tracking enhancer -> if above dont work, try this Drop AB for a second Tracking CPU -> using AB on long range setups is sensible since it saves time between groups and time=money, so maybe only do this when you know there will be multiple inties
If you still cant hit them after those 3 changes, then something is wrong :)
Edit: Just noticed you were using heavy launchers - switching these for assaults will help a lot with how fast you kill the lil' buggers.

fit 2 webs and stand still while you're fighting interceptors, and you'll destroy them very fast. Of course, taht mean only 3 meds left for AB/sheild tank, but you can't have everything.

4x250mm II's (antimatter) 2xAssault 1xSensor booster II 1xWebber 86.25% 1x10MN AB II 1xGistii small shield booster 1xTracking Computer II 1xDamage Control 3xMag stab II's
I run that for all my solo level 4 encounters plus I use it to support my Corp mates on level 4 deadspace.
Warp in at 80km and align then start nailing inties at 50-60km, once they get within 25km I warp out then come back at range till they are all dead. Takes from 0-2 warps on avarge to kill them.
I only need to change ship when I need to kill some of the Angel HACs as they tank like *****es.
The key is to keep at range, my webber is not that good once they get close, but that only happens when I have help and then I tend to web to allow my buddies drones a better shot.
Bosie.
