Originally by: LeMonde The alliance PVP championships are now being held for the first time. This post is aimed at giving you more detailed info about the event, as well as list the eligible alliances.
The tournament will be held December 28th-30th between 15:00 & 01:00
Last rules update: 26/12/05 17:30 GMT
Fitting Rules/Restrictions
- Any and all variants of warp disruptors, target jammers, sensor dampeners and tracking disruptors are not allowed, this includes drones that might have these effects.
The Caldari banning EW in an event of this type is like the Amarr Empire banning lasers for the Amarr championship.
The start range gives a massive advantage to certain ship types, and assure near instant destruction of the frigates. Why not just allow the teams to warp to the ref at whatever range they choose, starting from opposite directions. Makes more sense and it means the differing tactics of each of the participating allainces will be revelaed (like the rolplaying subplot mentions). I know Huzzah Federation CVA and Aegis Militia have a totally diffrent fighting style to certian other allainces. As yor tactics and fittings depend ont he range you prefer to fight at, setting an arbitary range is pointless.
I'm also confused as to why The SUdden Death Squid[1] aren't invited. They are very good at what they do, which is blow things up.

So if a ship warps away the team does not lose the match?
or from the original post...

If a ship warps away the team does lose the match?
Can you clarify for me please?

aye, i was under the impression that warping off = team disqualified. Can we get a final word on this? I think any ship that warps off or leaves the combat area should DQ the entire team and the fight ends

Sorry, been up all day planning and getting a little confused myself.
If a player leaves the ring, his team will lose the match, ignore my previous post and follow the original ruling.

p.s. If you look at number 47, Sudden Death Squad are right there.

I understand what the rules say, I'm just wondering vaguely what the justification is... it's not a huge deal either way, just curious

So if a team hugs an outer boundary, it will effectivly disqualify any team who tries to use orbiting as a tactic? Like a Inty with MWD trying to orbit to stay alive... Is this intended or Can you be outside the ring for short periods of time as long as you are in manuvers and they are trying to "use the ropes" so to speak to win.

what if the 2 frigates orbit each other though... and get further and further away from the ring... :p
maybe a direct disqualification is a bit OTT, but a warning along the lines of "Get back into the ring within 20 seconds!" would be better?

Also, maybe a goodie for all those who spectate.....a jovian shuttle, 200km targeting range, and unlimited max locked targets, so you can watch the damage as it comes in, instead of just watching your team getting pounded (or watching your team doing the pounding)

Originally by: Ethidium Bromide as there will be live E-R coverage i wonder if some official or officially announced source for FRAPSage will be available?
EvE Radio will have live commentary for as much of the event as possible, with off air fraps and commentary of the semi finals and final which will be available via our on demand service as soon after the event as possible.
If possible, we'll try and do the last 16 as well but can't promise anything just yet.

I didn't read it all so i don't know if this issue is known.. check this out:
1.Each team will have one battleship pilot, one cruiser pilot and one frigate pilot. 2.If both teams still have survivors, the team with the most people alive wins. 3.If both teams have the same ammount of people alive, the ships alive whose modules are cheapest will be declared winner.
CONCLUSION If each team have one survivor, one have bs and one have frigate then frigate wins.
Unfair.

I realize there are a lot of small holes and gaps in the rules that people will try to squeeze through, but the large radius of the arena (100km) will prevent most of those you mentioned. Most BS's won't have the time to fly to the edge and wait there to avoid frigs, since the other teams frig will catch up and web.
This is of course all guessing, but if a player leaves the 100km radius, his team will be diqualified straight away. This includes CTD's.
Rules changes:
If the teams both have the same number of ships remaining, the team who has largest ships still alive will be declared victor. (If one team has a BS and a cruiser, and another has a cruiser and a frigate, the one with the BS/cruiser wins).

I would hate to see the tourney end in a CTD, these things do happen. Would it be totally unfair to the other team if a team that has a CTD/Warp out would have to continue without this member instead of a disqualification for the whole team?
King Liu is RIGHT!!

This could lead to some interesting match ups in later rounds due to unlucky disconnects and CTD's.
Unfair imho, as it truly is a chance thing if you get a line-dead, disconnect or CTD and I feel that if someone leaves the circle and is eliminated from that round, the loss to the team in firepower and ability would hurt more and make it less of an OMGWTF! eliminating the whole team. Mind you, I ain't making the rules.

Rules have been changed so that if you disconnect or leave the area, your ship will be destroyed, but the rest of the team gets to fight on.

The sad thing is that the organizers (hint!) could have set-up a simple page to display the tournament results in real-time. :( Commentary on radio is a good thing, but for example I'm at work, and I can't listen to radio. And anyway, we can't listen to radio all the time. But if we could just check some page every few minutes/hours, that would be enough.
That would require just a little bit of simple programming (hell, even simple html would do just fine), but would be a big plus and PR for game events! CCP hire me, I can do these things, if you can't or don't have time. _______________________________________________ If ifs and ands were pots and pans, I would grow mushrooms in my pants. |

Or you could rely on people listening in who will post results as they happen. Saves programming even if it isn't as reliable.
They're waiting for the next fight to start, a bit of a delay currently. Something about Iterons and male genetalia.
