So i was just reading that the new Tegra 3 based Tablets could be out as early as next month.
& Yes i rekon we've all seen the small tiny bit of footage of Fanfest where they should a few still screens of Eve being run, but we've seen nor heard nothing since.
So could there be any type of update on playing Eve on a Tab, even if it's just meaningless mining, buy/sell orders etc.
I'd like to know as i've been waiting a time to get a tablet & being able to play eve is a winner in my books, i know it's more about being able to handle the graphic processes but would anyhting be abel to be done for example turning WiS off & grpahics quality low.
I'd just like to be able to keep eve running while doing other stuff ... heck even possible Dust 514, eh it's a plan i think.
Talking of Dust .. Did i mention i have PS3 waiting for "The Beta" to start.
Come one CCP give it to us straight & clear how much longer are we having to wait on these two small things .. any update would be cool.

Android and iOS use OpenGL-ES, not DirectX.
Also, the GPUs in tablets have fixed function pipelines, and support for that was phased out with Trinity 4 years ago. |

It will really come down to the graphics processing in the card. Most graphic processors worthy of running EVE generate a lot of heat, far more than a tablet is designed to deal with. EVE Online: Incarna = New Coke. EVE Online: Winter Expansion = Coke Classic. |

I play eve on a the asus ep121 slate. Never have to use a keyboard or mouse, just pen everything. It's nice, but the graphics aren't all that great and ya have to put eve on a flash drive. |

I heard that you can run Eve on some netbooks pretty smoothly. With the tablets, I think you would have trouble running the standard client without glitches.
It would be cool if CCP released a 'lite' client though, that may be more adaptable to the tablet environments. |

You do realize that the tablet you named can only hardly be called a tablet, but a PC squeezed into a tablet case with a touchscreen instead?
There's one thing fundamentally wrong with tablets/windows/game developers - everything has its own standard. Even windows 8 won't change this. Even over the next years the only way to play EVE on a tablet will be a PC based system, like that Asus Slate. |

quad-core as a marketing term
and where do you plug the mouse in? The American public's reaction to the change was poor and the new cola was a major marketing failure. The subsequent reintroduction of Coke's original formula, re-branded as "Coca-Cola Classic", resulted in a significant gain in sales, leading to speculation that the introduction of the New Coke formula was just a marketing ploy |

I swear they must have somehitng in the pipeline for tablet gameplay .. otherwise why show it being used at fanfest, unless you just wanna be doing ship spinning with, lol.
But unfortunatly for me i know very little about the use of heldheld devices for gameplay, iphones, PSP, PS-Phone & tablets. But from what i've seen it looks like the old 16-bit era games just a bit smother & more quality.
Ok saying that we have the new PS-Vita out soon & if you check out that running the Uncharted game, well it looks nice & more graphic-ly intense than Eve. So if you see what i'm saying tablet gameplay shouldn't be that far off.
Comes on Devs we know you have the inside news we all want, where it is ???? |

Ipad 1 and 2 do not have fixed function pipelines and are much faster then Tegra 2 and Tegra 3. There should be more then enough power to run Eve on an Ipad 2. I would love to see news about Eve on some of the higher end tablets.
EDIT: The Ipad hardware suppotrs DirectX but bealive the iOs does not. The Ipad hardware supports DirectX but believe iOS5 does not. |
