I just finished a new Win7 install and installed EVE Online onto it. Which is the (is there a) folder that has my game settings and options that I can copy from the old EVE Online install in the old Win7 install, over to the new Win7 and new EVE installs? If so, where do I find it? If I can avoid it, I want to avoid having to reset all of my settings again..... Watch this space.-á New exciting signature in development. |

I was under the impression that a lot of settings data was stored or at least backed up on the server, what all were you missing when you logged in to your fresh install?
that said:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\
is the default directory for your local cache in Windows 7 or windows/steam. Stick that in the run bar on your old install and it should open it for you to copy. |

I didn't get a chance to check everything out, but all of the windows which I had sized and positioned went back to their defaults. I haven't undocked, but I suspect I'll find the same thing. I'll have to see what my Overview looks like, and see if all of my saved locations are still there. I'm at work, now. So, it'll be a few hours before I can check.
But you're saying if I copy this, %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\, from the old and paste it to the new. That might get my windows and such back the way I set them? Watch this space.-á New exciting signature in development. |

O.K., I got a look around, and found that stuff like my saved locations. One of my overview tabs settings was saved, but the other tabs are gone. The Ship UI was back to its default position as I suspected it would be.... So, some settings are saved on CCP's servers, but some are not. if you want to save everything including screenshots, overview settings etc. you need to backup two folders.
first one is:
Quote:C:\Users\user\Documents\EVE
and the second one:
Quote:C:Users\user\AppData\Local\CCP
when you reinstall your OS you have to copy those two back to their original places and all of your eve settings and data are saved... |
