Today, while I was picking up a purchase I made in Gallente low-sec, A capsuleer in a Loki named Hiro Nori, not only destroyed my Commorant, but podded me! I had already picked up the purchase and I was about to warp back to Jel when he ambushed me so my gallente data chip gamma went up in smoke alongside my fittings, ammo, and most infuriating of all, my gallente battlecruiser skillbook i was PLANNING ON USING TOMORROW! (takes a few moments to compose himself.)
Thankfully, the transition to my clone wasn't that bad, like I suspected as this is the first time i've been blown to smithereens as it were and actually died. but I have an announcement regarding this fiasco... seeing as CONCORD will allow kill rights on this man for destroying my capsule, I have taken the liberty to open up the kill rights to everyone for the price of 200,000 ISK. I consider this an opportunity to not only make back the money that I had to spend on a new ship and fittings, but a chance to get revenge on the bastard who decided to come out of nowhere and ambush me.
I look forward to seeing this bastard getting podded... |

They say the first death is the hardest. They're wrong, of course...
For me the first death passed in a giddy swirl of adrenaline, so that my heart was pounding in reaction by the time I awoke in my new clone. An hour after that, I was already drinking with friends in a bar.
Later clonings have been both hard and easy. It depends, I think, on many factors. There will be worse. There will be better.

I admire your attitude here after something like that. I dunno if I'd feel the same, but we gotta bounce back, right?
I'm really sorry for your loss. It sounds horrible. I hope your crew were able to be rescued, if any were on board... |

The loss of crew is the most difficult part of a ship loss to me. Equipment can be replaced. The unique men and women who serve as our technicians, engineers, etc. are a loss to us as their captains and to their families, crew-mates and friends. I echo Ms. Naka's sentiments. My condolences on your first death. It doesn't get easier necessarily but you may eventually become inured to it as many others have.
Ah, I see you mentioned Jel. The items you bought were sold in Egghelende, yes? That was your first mistake. Many Amarrian loyalist corps base out of Egghelende due to it's proximity to the low-sec warzone and use it's location in Sing Laison to lure newer capsuleers into Egg with cheap prices in order to butcher them.
Unless you happen to join the Amarrian militia, Egge is a horrible place to be. |

I just realized something here! Instead of just givin' you sympathies, I can do a lot more than that!
I had a very different run to low sec recently than you. Reading this it's like I'm learning from your mistakes without payin' any price. It doesn't feel right in my gut that other new recruits are dying though, and I'm jus' over there, spoutin' off about how I'm makin' all this money without any losses.
I been even luckier though, because today a stranger decided to give me 15 million ISK out of pure kindness! I can't spent it though because I think Alexa is right when she says accepting it could be accepting blood money.
So yeah, 10 million ISK is in your wallet Alex. Take it and don't worry about where it came from, since you were the victim in this one, I reckon it all equals out at this point right?
The other 5 million we'll put on that bastard's head. |

Be sure to stock up on stool softeners, and don't eat Fast-Matari food first thing after a cloning.
That first trip to the bathroom with a freshly-grown colon can get pretty horrific otherwise.

Thank you everyone. Personally I hope my crew made it out ok. Thanks for the money Rebi, it will definitely come in handy. Hopefully the bounty hunters will make Hiro's life hell. Morgan, thanks for telling me that. I did not know that about Egge so in this case won't I don't know will hurt me! |

I've never understood why capsuleers, and especially CONCORD, consider popping another capsuleers egg to be a greater criminal offense than blowing up their ship.
If I kill a capsuleer's pod, then at best I am only killing one person. And that is debatable, since that person will on the balance of probabilities, wake up immediately in a new body.
Meanwhile, if I kill a cruiser, I am responsible for a number of deaths. Actual deaths. People who will not be waking up with a fresh perspective.
However, the loss of security status for killing that cruiser can be wiped out in five minutes by killing a Serpentis Battleship. Something I am inclined to do anyways.
Killing the capsuleer's pod comes with a much more severe penalty, and takes much longer to redeem (in CONCORD's eyes. I personally do not see anything morally objectionable in killing a capsuleer. In fact, most times I consider it the moral thing to do since it inconveniences the capsuleer.)
CONCORD is weird. |

That's why I have crew go to escape pods before hand. In case of emergencies like this. A few minutes or so of them being prepped for ejection just in case has never caused trouble. I've rarely lost any crew this way since when they do get ejected SOE comes and picks them up generally. Or the nearest station sends out a ship to grab them up. Usually by the time a day goes by they're back to work or relaxing. Usually I have them do the second and give them shore leave to get them chilled out. |
