The only one that I know of is Lightworks. Haven't had the time to put into learning it yet so can't really tell you that it's easy, but it is free....

Avidemux is/was flaky but is FOSS, has Win32/64 binaries and has the features to do transcoding, simple cuts, crops, image overlays. Possibly some other things & it might be more stable now, but it was good enough to do quick simple edits to captures before I then moved them to APP/AE/Vegas.
I looked at most other FOSS ones iirc and they're either linux-based/not on Windows, or you would need to go the KDE-on-Windows route which I didn't.
P.S. Do you already have a capture app sorted? I found VLCplayer can work very well. |

My thread on FHC about itQuote:Basically my setup seems to have no problem running this while EVE's at full settings, with several clients, and I got the impression the resulting files are up to an order of magnitude smaller than from FRAPS (I'm generating ~100MB/min, 1.7MB/s) with minimal quality difference from the original/looks fine to be edited & compressed further to me.
I didn't get around to making it slicker w.r.t. the vlc player window + the command window appearing.
Even if you just try this and can't get comparable results to FRAPS/some other app, I'd appreciate if you let me know & where it falls down. |
