I have been messing around in Gallente space for over a year now and am quite bored seeing the same old thing. I have a small corp that mostly mines and does various science projects as well as planetary interactions. A few of us are looking to venture out beyond high security space and get into null sec. We understand that it is dangerous out there and wonder if it is possible to partner with a larger group for protection. Is this possible to do? Any ideas or pointers?
Thanks. |

tl/dr version: While we fill our pockets we want you to hold our hands and fight of the bad people.
Sounds like a scam to me.

Yes it is dangerous out there.....lots of bad people, and stuff.
Be prepared to lose your ships and your independence, and your free time.
If you're ok with that, find a corp or alliance that is recruiting (and they are always recruiting.) Your best bet would be to meld your existing corp into another established nul-sec corp (as it will save on the logistics of getting set up in the first place.)
After that, just get involved and you'll do fine....
Edit: Just in case youGÇÖre not already aware, if you see ANYTHING that has even the remotest whiff of goon about it, run a mile. I am a Pod Pilot:

Thanks for the advice and input. It is just a small group of us, about 3, who actually want to venture out and do this. We normally are online during the day EST. Ideally we would love to set up some sort of mining operation and do some exploration. Not really sure if this is even feasible or only a pipe dream.
I am interested in pursuing whatever options would provide the best success for out plans. I have heard that we would need to get some sort of permission if we were to enter sovereign space. Is this true and are there channels to do it? Would we pay to sort of rent out some space, time, or pay an equitable revenue share off our operation?
Just looking for the best way to proceed. I understand it is dangerous out there as well as political and that is one reason I don't just want to jump out there in a covert ops. I feel that could be misread as an act of espionage or some other nefarious thing. |

taka look around lowsec first and what that has to offer
to get you started just use frigates as they can get past gatecamps and if you lose them dont worry.
recons are great for that when you are more confident.
take your time.
dont just jump into nullsec |

It sounds to me as if wormhole exploration would be right up your alley. There's no big commitments involved, or politics....or slavery. Before you sucumb to the nullsec lifestyle, give it a try. |

Another aspect of wormhole exploration is as a back door into null sec.. I have popped out in some interesting places. Cloaks and probes are your friends. |

rofl, no commitments!?!?! LOL. Yes, you could go in and run sites, no committment, but quite a pain to make isk when you have to go in like that. Most ppl who actually earn isk live there. And that is one HELL of a committment |

Well.. 3 people could do ok. One in an Orca, with assorted ships in hangar to suit your goals. Two others could do quite a bit and have some fun.

find a quiet place and move in use the maps and get something close to empire, yet off the beaten path and away from any big pipes
theres a lot of regions in null that are not supercap hell storms
but don't be some ***** renter, that will make you a target for the locals. if you go, you have to expect to fight, and mining and missioning and running back to dock up when someone enters local will not earn you the respect of your neighbors.
do a little diplo when you find a nice spot, get some local blues, you can still do your money making, but if you don't get into the PVP also it will just be an expensive bout of station games and hotdrops The American public's reaction to the change was poor and the new cola was a major marketing failure. The subsequent reintroduction of Coke's original formula, re-branded as "Coca-Cola Classic", resulted in a significant gain in sales, leading to speculation that the introduction of the New Coke formula was just a marketing ploy |

As a pilot, getting started in nullsec isn't usually a problem. It's easy to find corps who will accept people new to PvP and help train them up.
Breaking into 0.0 as a whole corp is a whole other ball of wax.
I used to be the CEO of a rather promising PvP corp that had been in Faction War and screwing around in lowsec for about a year. We had a good number of veteran players who had been in 0.0 corps before, we had a good group of newer players who are/were talented PvPers who were interested in moving the corp to nullsec, so we made that our goal, to move to nullsec and establish ourselves. To accomplish that goal though, many compromises were made along the way, and after the corp joined a number of HORRIBLE alliances, after well over a year of tremendous effort from many of the directorate (and after I left), the corp now finds itself in a reasonably good alliance, and able to stand proudly among them on the achievements they've made since coming to nullsec.
I guess what I'm trying to say, is that even if you have a really good corp with veteran players and talented younger members, be prepared for a very long ordeal. If you're just thinking of jaunting out to nullsec with a corp full of inexperienced PvPers though, you might want to re-examine what you're doing and start a bit smaller, in like lowsec or faction war, until you get some much needed experience. Or you could just try to network with some spacebros and try to get into a crappy nullsec carebear alliance, sometimes their corp recruiting standards are fairly lax. |
