You could be right, it's been a long time since I've driven in Germany. What I was taught was that you stick to the right unless you're overtaking, the left lanes were strictly for overtaking, that said the fahrschule I attended was primarily aimed at UK and US servicemen and their families.

yeah well that is right, however driving fast is basically a continous overtaking maneuver...
but back to topic, dae notice that the craptacularity of driving you can expect from van drivers has a linear dependency to the number of child safety seats in the vehicle? |

Yep Transits, Vitos and estate car based vans are the worst for it, the guy gesturing rudely from the rear window seems to increase the available speed as well.

Interesting observation.
In Japan BMW drivers are often viewed as show offs and people who have a 'look at me' need due to BMWs being so expensive. Audis are the car of dentists as the boot can fit a golf bag. Porsche is a mid life crisis mobile.
So pretty much the same as the UK then.
Lexus drivers here tend to be viewed as "the boss" which being the boss makes me happy.

My next car is going to be a retired cop cruiser. With the push bar still installed on the front. Here's a 2005 one for US $5,900, but minus the push bar.
Then the next time some aggressive BMW/Benz driver does the "I'm coming out the parking lot into your lane, you have to either either hit your brakes or hit me," I won't hit the brakes. BMW/Benz light steel, plastic, and components, meet basic heavy steel. And his insurance will have to fix any damage to my push bar, because I was the driver with the right of way. I'll do it, I swear. |

It's funny that you bring that up because I just installed a 5mm steel off road bumper with winch placement. That's 5mm of love wrapped around the front of my truck. Out of Pod is getting In the Pod - Join in game channel IG OOPE |

I thought I had uploaded some pictures but I guess I changed my mind. Was going to write a big ole post talking about how the Disco was down for most most of the summer because it had no bumper, having ripped the old one off and then finding out the new one doesn't sit right. Then discussing how I had to put up with an entire summer of beautiful 90-100 degree weather without a single cloud in sight while I drove the jeep with the top down and the doors off. Then finish with how I got tired of waiting for replacements so I just bought back the factory defect at half price and just modified the truck to fit the bumper.
Next step is either the winch itself or the rear bumper to match the front.
Funny story: I was at a autoparts shop last week because a hose broke on me. I fixed the issue and was refilling the radiator when a guy walked by giving my truck a weird look because he saw a bottle of coke sitting in the bumper. He asked what it was for and I told him for the time being it's for holding drinks, tools, and cats. Out of Pod is getting In the Pod - Join in game channel IG OOPE |

Just laughed at it. Guess he understood the cats mentality that is if it can fit in it, it will sit in it.
Heres a couple of shots.
Careful removal of the plastic bumper A shot of the actual bumper Trying to fit it the first time. Had to remove a few things. Refit 3 months later after I removed a few things (with a grinder) Because of cats. Out of Pod is getting In the Pod - Join in game channel IG OOPE |

I approve of the careful manner in which you removed the bumper.

@ Micheal Dietrich, V8 Disco? (I saw the fuel consumption figure and I know the smaller petrol and diesel engines do better than that). If it is the V8, it was originally a Buick 215 engine and has been kicking around the UK in various sizes, 3.5,3.9,4.0 and 4.2 Litre since the 60's, we finally stopped using it in 2006 but not before sticking it in some silly cars like TVRs.

That's pretty standard for a V8 TVR, goes like stink, breaks your spine in the process, and as is true of every TVR ever the build quality makes 70's British Laydown (your tools, we're on strike) look good.

Yes she's the V8 and yes she is a pig. I average about 11mpg and since she requires only the finest my fill up usually peaks around $90 every few weeks, which is about what I paid for on the V10's 40 gallon tank ten years ago. Out of Pod is getting In the Pod - Join in game channel IG OOPE |

It's BMW's fault. Their vehicles are possessed or something. I've driven all sorts of cars and motorcycles, and the only time I drove consistently like a jerk is with BMW. The car/bike made me do it.
I'm pushing 60 years of age, and have gotten two speeding tickets in my life. Both for reckless driving. The first on an '88 BMW K75, and the second in a 2001 M5 (drag racing a cop. OK I didn't know he was a cop at the time).
Now I drive a Subaru. I could drive past a line of radar-equipped cops at 110 MPH (assuming the car could wheeze its way to such a speed) and they would ignore me. Except I would never do that, because I am driving a Subaru.
So, I blame the car.

Replace Angry German with 300lb Angry trailer trash lady + 7 kids without seatbelts on and Audi with Junkyard quality 80's Camaro and I pretty much have the same thing, except they're breaking the speed limit. I guess I can understand one part of it seeing how much of our highways are still 2 lane after all these years, but at the same time we end up with straight away's that literally go on for as far as the eye can see. Take Nevada for example. If you drive on 93 South, there are parts of it where all you see is desert and the road you are on going off into the horizon. With the exception of a town (by town I mean one road and 5 buildings), the scenery literally doesn't change for like an hours worth of driving.
