Hi! I just started playing EVE a few days ago :D
I'm really a big fan of the missles. :) It's kinda what helped me got interested in trying out EVE. I know that the Caldari specialises in missles, but after taking a look at the design aesthetics of the ships, it seems to get uglier as the tier goes up. My favourite ship designs in EVE are the Amarr and the Gallente, but it seems that the Amarr can use missles as well?
Is it possible to do well ingame (PVE/PVP), flying a Amarr missle ship? I really really love the missles, but can't stand the look of the Caldari ships, or I would have just gone ahead with it. |

well, the only amarr missile battleship is the armageddon and it's more of a drone/pvp boat, so high end amarr pve is go lasers or go home. as for pvp, there are quite a few capable amarr missile boats, so you should be fine. one of my favorites is the vengeance, a mean little rocket boat with near cruiser level dps and tank.

All of Khanid amarr ships are missile platforms, with a significant drone bay often too.
You'll be looking at:
Armageddon (T1) Curse (T2) Vengeance (T2) Heretic (T2) Sacrilige (T2) Damnation (T2, after the next patch it's going to be a decent missile dps ship)
I used to run missions back in the day using Vengeance for L2's and 3's, Curse for L4's, after the patch you can probably use the damnation for missioning as well, Sacrilige used to be a good exploration platform for combat sites.
As for pvp, all of the above are good. www.wormholefundamentals.com www.youtube.com/user/asayanami www.twitter.com/Asayanami www.facebook.com/Asayanami.Dei

Not to mention the HAM Legion. Alot of DPS with a massive tank. Just to mention one little thing: you will more or less quickly end up zooming out when playing and at that time, the design of the ship doesn't make a difference when it's merely a small dot in the center of your screen.
Yes, Khanid (ftw) are the bastard breed of Amarr and Caldari, it's the even in the lore, but the ships are very skill intensive to get into with a decent performance, fitting a Curse or a HAM Legion will take months for viable fits.
Come to think of it, my lol-fitted Vengeance was quite the bliss to run L2s and some L3s... it did "hit like a girl, but had the staying power of an ex-wife" (c). "haiku are easy, But sometimes they don't make sense, Refrigerator." |

Beam Legion? Seriously? Thats the nice thing about a HAM Legion. Selective Damage type brining its full 700dps to bear. Have not met a Tengu yet that got away. I figure I oughta grant some context for the info you've gotten here: The ships that can utilize missiles for Amarr are there, but a minority, and in order to fly them requires quite a lot of skill beforehand. For example, each of the ships referenced are tech2, with one exception that's a battleship. So this means you wont be able to use missile skills(without handicapping yourself) for months.
If you're interested in flying missile ships now, you'll have to skill some Caldari Spaceship Command skills. And since I've gone and said that, I'll also mention that the just because your character is Amarr doesn't mean they're particularly prone to amarr ships. The difference between an Amarr starting character and a Caldari starting character is about 1 or 2 days worth of SP. Not a lot. So don't let the fact that you're Amarr deter you even a little bit from pursuing Caldari ships.
In fact, you'll find that it's extremely beneficial to train for all kinds of faction hulls, once you join a corp. In the end, a ship hull is a tool for a specific situation, and you should adjust the tool you use accordingly. So it's good to have access to many different ship hulls, even if you've only got the skill trained to 2 or 3. Specialization is completely unnecessary.
So if missile ships are your priority, I'd say you should focus on Caldari Cruisers as a goal for now. Amarr wont scratch that itch, not for months. And if you figure there's another priority out there that you want to focus on, do that instead. But don't feel constrained by your prior skilling, nor your characters faction.

Side note: there are several ships in the Minmatar line-up that take advantage of missiles as well, including a T1 frigate and destroyer (Breacher and Talwar, respectively), if you'd like to have something to start with. Cross-training races is not difficult; there are very few skills unique to each race. With that in mind, feel free to experiment.

All the Amarr missile boats specialize in the short range variants (with the exception of the Armageddon, but that's a drone boat 1st). If you're looking at missiles as a long term primary weapon, Amarr is pretty lacking. There just aren't enough ships in the lineup to give you the versatility for everything you may one day need. It does have enough options to turn to missiles when you really want them though. - Mission Overhaul - Bridging the PVP / PVE Gap - -áIf the game stops teaching people to fear lowsec, maybe people will start going there? |

I plan of doing some form of RP in the future, so I don't really want to cross-train into the Caldari ships, unless I really have to. Is there a good way to use Lasers/Missles? or Missles/(Something else)?
Would Inquisitor be a good start for me? ATM all I have is the rookie ship still. Haven't ventured too far in yet. |

The inquisitor used to be a missile ship but now it's a logi ship. Your info might be out of date.
The T1 ships you want are the dragoon, arbitrator, prophecy, and Armageddon, all of which are primarily drone ships that offer both laser and missile hard points to use The Drake is a Lie |

Well, RP constrains plus the constraint of missile aesthetics is quite tight indeed. I believe you'll find that you'll need to loosen up as time goes on.
For now though, you might find a good goal in a heavy missile fit Prophecy, which is a drone boat. The missiles only represent a small fraction of it's damage, though. But I'll suggest training primarily laser skills, and secondarily drones, since I'm guessing the Amarr constraint is more important than the missile constraint. Do yourself a favor though, and don't constrain yourself to Amarr drones. They are generally thought to be the least effective drones.

Maybe some day you will fall in love with guns.:-) missiles are good but they also have some weakness such as they can't deal damage immediately which means you have to wait for a while until they hit the target. |
