Hello,
My name is Admiral EnderWiggin, I have a few years of experience in EVE, and I'd like to propose an Idea that could redefine the pace of PvP in High Sec and maybe bring more players to experience this side of EVE. I always watched the Alliance Tournament videos and it seemed like an alien thing to me at first, unreachable, something that only the big boys and famous people would participate in, that was my view in the past as a new player, but i doesn't have to be like that. What if , we had an arena system that would behave like the Alliance Tournament in Empire ? We'd have one arena corporation on each faction ( maybe could be added to the Faction Warfare corp ), where players would pay a fee to get in with pre-formed teams or pick up teams, and then they would get a pre-set ship/ team comp(maybe?... but leave some flexibility to it) ( this would be according to skills , or maybe not even using actual skills here , and brackets ) according to fee paid and a bracket system, where two teams would fight for riches and mostly glory, the loser gets nothing, the winner gets a brand new ship, glory and some ISK. The arena would be set in an unreachable system or maybe even on a separate server so that only the two teams would have access to the battle space, after the end of the match players/teams would get rating based on performance, maybe keep the ships if they're on the winning team ( the ones who lost theirs would get brand new ones or this won't make sense ), ISK , special modules, whatever the devs feel like adding to the game. There could be a ladder system like a championship on best teams / players, and it could also be used as a sink or faucet depenting on what devs deem best for the economy. It would bring many people to the PvP aspect of the game without them being terrified of the unknown in 0.0 / WH space. In time special events could be held in 0.0 space and this could bring new breed of players to null. This system would encourage players to play at a predictable risk within boundaries they can accept more easily than if they just went to null and got facerolled by gate camp. I know a lot of people that even in null only use less expensive ships like frigates and cruisers because of risk, I'm sure that my system would make it possible to have players getting experience in bigger ships with a more acceptable risk. Lore wise it could be made into an awesome history, think about the glories of having a kind of sport league in EVE where the best ones would be known across the universe simply because players would have more contact with them ? It is easy to notice how crowded Empire space is today by looking at average number of players in space statistics, and I believe my idea could bring some of those to like PvP more and come delve in null or WH space. So this is my idea and I wish to receive feedback from you guys ! ... and maybe someday see it in game .... I would love to elaborate more on it if requested, or help on its development if it is deemed a viable idea, I am an electronic engineer by trade and know some of the technical aspects involved. This would be awesome neh ?
Look forward to hearing from you !

-PS: Awesome feature would be having replay system or live relay of the fight for other players to watch high rated players during battles. |

I'd like to see arguments for or against the idea. Remember that anything I have sugested can be adapted to better fit EVE. I believe that eve would greatly benefit from having a competitive e-sport environment added to the game. Don't you guys wish for more *fair* PvP opportunities? The proposed system would also entice more players to engage in PvP activities and that means more targets to shoot. |

There's the Syndicate Competitive League, which runs on the Singularity server (where just about all ships and modules are seeded at 100 ISK apiece, so price isn't a factor, and losses don't impact your wallet or inventory on Tranquility). I think that's about the best you're going to get. "Nevertheless a prince ought to inspire fear in such a way that, if he does not win love, he avoids hatred..." - Niccolo Machiavelli-á |

No, nein, nai, niet, ni Please keep this wow garbage out of my game. This would RUIN Eve. Also being that your a complete noob when it comes to PVP, you probably should get more experience with it before you suggest ideas like this. This concept goes against the core of what Eve pvp is. Why not just play one of the many carbon copy **** wow clones that all do pvp like that if that is what you want?
Eve PvP isn't fair just as life itself isn't fair. This is why we LOVE IT.

I meant it to be like the alliance tournament format, Is that wrong ? I don't see why it would be a carbon copy of another game. And it would also be designed with the intent of getting more players into PvP ... the PvP the way you like it in null sec , etc. There are a LOT of players in eve that only do PvE content ... why would it not be worth it trying to take them into PvP activities ? |

Anything that would add mechanics to the game for controlled/fair pvp would be a very bad thing. Sure I want bears to get into pvp, but this type of "arena" setup , while shitting on the spirit of Eve pvp (unfair, **** you, brutal), would also attract the wrong type of pvpers. Those being the no risk/ no consequences/ pvp delivered to me type that IMO can just keep bearing it up or stick to their blobs of f1 monkeys. The reference to other games was to point out that their pvp is really ******, precisely due to the nature of the Arena/Battleground mechanics.

Oh god please. I bet this idea does not only come from the Alliance Tournament. It is a WoW Thing! But please, you do realize that even the WoW devs regret that they ever put something like that into an MMO. It simply doesn't fit and ruins the WHOLE other PvP (i.e. open pvp).
Why? Simple: People will want to stop getting blobbed or have no roams where they end up finding nothing. Therefore people will stop working out ways around blob and stop practicing better target search and just queue up. This will carebear the game down to an unimaginary level: All the instant gratification kiddies will join and this game as we know it is dead.
Sorry even the current FW Plex mechanics are dumb but I guess they can be justified somehow. An Arena on the other hand: not. |

This is where I stopped reading.
Players currently run alliance like tournaments. There were certain leagues etc. *But they are good because they are part of the game universe* They don't get to break out of the eve reality to do them. Players have to take their own security measures etc.
That said I think if the players wanted ccp to design more stuff in the game to help them build arenas that would be good. Not artificial instanced arenas though. Arenas that exist in the game and cost money. Constructing a space arena would be like constructing anything else in eve. It could be destroyed and you wouldn't have complete control that the players could not interfer with events. Maybe it could be equipped with sentry guns that fire on people that interfere and of course other players would need to be ready as security too. Think of any sporting event type security in the real world. There will be your occassional streaker or even bomb. Sporting events aren't held in an alternative universe that no one can access.
Such activities IMO could be a source of great content in the game. Not only who wins but who attacks the games and how the potential terrorists and game organizers try to run the events.
So maybe it would be something like a tournament sphere that paints a ship if it goes out of a certain radius so it would be easier to identify boundry violations. I'm sure the players that have run these leagues in the past would have ideas for new stuff that would help them run tournaments without removing them from new eden. |
