Hello all!
So I was thinking about getting an alt to help with missions on my main, but I'm not really sure what kind of ship combo would do well. The main problem with this is that I only have one screen but I think it might be okay if I use windowed mode and just tab down. That made me think that a drone boat would be good since I can let my main use the alts drones right?
The ships I was thinking are
Tengu + Nightmare Tengu + Rattlesnake Tengu + Golem
If you wonder why tengu it's because I already use one for missions. Would any of those combos be good or can you reccomend something better?
Thanks in advanced

Drones can assist the primary player, which means droneboats are way less overhead since you don't have to lock stuff on the second ship.

if you had the skills, nightmare+domi would be optimal; both ships have stupid damage projection and don't need to move much. you could use the spare highs on both ships for a semi-decent tinker tank. if skipping the tengu is not an option, tengu+domi is probably the way to go.

I was thinking of doing something like that. Thank you for your response!

Is the domi much more superior than the Rattlesnake? I thought they were almost equal. |

You have some good options there. Dominix is very hassle free and it comes down to how much you want to focus in it compared to the rattler.
Rattler AFK setup would use FOF missiles with sentries (they share the same target priority) at close range. This leads to your drones getting popped. Dominix MJD sniper AFK fit range tanks the drones so they don't die nearly as often. For this reason, if you tab, Dominix might be more fun. AFK here would mean selecting closest targets and pressing F1/f blindly.
Dominix and rattler DPS setups both require focus, so tabbing is not that relaxed.
My main point will however be, that the most meaningful setup choice is how you pull the missions. Ideally you want to fly separate missions because 2 ships waste more proportional travel time doing the same thing compared to doing their own thing. If you can pick a station with multiple agents to pull, use that to your advantage and squad warp the other char to do his own mission. This way you negate the overkill time and traveling. This further encourages the use of semi afk setups like MJD Dominix and FOF rattler, because being able to better multitask two missions pays some of the loss in using lower potential setups. |

While not the most efficient thing to do, I use Two FoF missile Tengus to "lazy" my missions lol. If I want to go faster I just switch one tengu to Fury missiles and let the other tengu FoF whatever is close.
With implants my tengus do 500+ dps apiece (1000+ dps total) so most missions are "warp to mission, activate gate, land, start FoF missiles while orbiting each other, come back when "a module has run out of charges" blares over my speakers to press button, repeat till done) lol. |

Personally I use the MJD Dominix for multitasking because it range tanks, applies all dps, is hassle free and works in conjunction with other 1-button wonders for multiboxing. Getting a kbm broadcaster cheat program is allowed and recommended ^^ |

The Domi's more offense-focused, with the tracking and optimal drone bonuses. The Rattlesnake trades those for pretty much the best native shield tank you can get on a subcap, even before you add its resistance bonuses. Why do you need two ships at the same time to complete a Level 4? I go in with a heavy tanked BS, then mop up with a salvage fitted destroyer before turning the mission is. Keep things simple.

he is using 2 accounts at the same time so he finishes missions about 2x faster. He doesn't NEED to, but tha't a waste is your're only using 1 account and do nothing on the other. |

I guess if he already has 2 accounts. I read the OP as if he was thinking of getting a second account and not already having so.

Unless he already has a second account trained up then his best bet is to get an alt into a salvage destroyer or bite the bullet and spend a day or two and get a noctis. Then while that alt is leveling up all the skills required to properly fly a battleship it'll at least still be useful by increasing isk per hour via salvage and loot.
Personally I run two BS and a noctis pilot on site. 2500 combined dps at 80 KM results in some quick mission runs. Putting the third pilot into a noctis increased overall isk per hour by a nice amount. |

now think what would happen if you would put third pilot in battleship, and only every few missions, you would get into a noctis and salvage only large wrecks. |

Isk per hour drops because I'm wasting time making bookmarks swapping ships waiting on targeting and the time wasted dedicating myself to just salvaging the sites I just ran. Currently the noctis pilot pretty much just lands on grid after the dps and then the salvager drones do almost all the work. I tried doing the three BS thing and the killing speed didn't counter the loss in salvage/loot.

Okay so I seem to have gotten a lot of helpful replies so thank you for that! So from what I've seen the best option for me would either be the domi or rattler.
If I were to go with 2x Marauders would that be good? Being able to loot and salvage on two ships at the same time as blasting away? |

Use two gank ravens with MJDs, shoot things in the aggrod group, watch everything melt in seconds. Focus fire or split as needed. Cheap, easy to train, quick.
Edit; running two missile boats on a single screen isn't overly difficult. Just pre-lock stuff you intend to shoot. |

I had a blast with Tengu + Dominix. Launch the sentries and set to assist, orbit with the tengu and blast away. No need for local repper, speed tank with RR. A RS would work great also, but this was before the drone tracking/range buff on the domi, Domi would still be better.
So you can fit crazy utility on the tengu, and still kick out plenty of DPS. Eve is Real |

Or use Fof missles, less dps, but less hassle by an order of magnitude lol.

On a single screen I use a cruise typhoon and a cruise raven. A raven and raven would be similarly awesome. I've used them extensively in missions and in Epic Arc missions, which have substantially more DPS/ships/crap to deal with. They're beautiful. BS melt under the rain of cruise missiles. Properly fit (rigors/paint) and using precision cruise, I have zero trouble with frigates, even elite ones. Very rarely is it necessary for me to pull out the drones. I tore through the Minnie epic arc in one Saturday afternoon. I also have a third character to clean up with a Noctis. Bokononist

CNR with auto targeting missiles with a pith a med shield booster and 6 slot tank can turn on missles and afk perma only come back every 3-4 min to turn on the missiles.
It can do angel blockade in 35-40mins smuggler interception in 20-25 massive attack less than 20min gone beserk less than 20mins
i say its about half as fast as a pimped out full dps manual control ship. still not bad for not much effort lol |

I dual box on a 15inch laptop in window mode, works like a charm. Can tripple box too but my laptop overheats too quickly.
Any of the combo's you have there will work. its down to preference and damage type. The RS imo is better than the domi, can get a better hassle free omni tank. Assigning drones works OK. Every now and again they tend to start doing their own thing, so you need to watch for that. I didn't like doing it this why when I tried it, you tend to waste missiles. NM works best for em weak rats, so I only use it in those cases. Cruise golem works pretty much anywhere, trops for me don't go far enough. You could match a mach with your tengu also, even T1 meta 4 guns do massive damage. Scorpion navy issue imo is better than the golem. Quicker to get into, cheaper and tanks better, well for now anyway.. big changes coming for the golem and other marauders.
In the end its going to depend on what you prefer, best is to try the combo's on the test server.

To kill BS and occasional BC I use Navy Raven with torps and Hamerheads - faction: 1250dps at 46km and T2: around 1450dps at 38km For everything else properly fitted pulse Nightmare with scorch and Hobgoblins can do 1000dps at 65km optimal having unmatched tracking and looking awesome at the same time Enjoy! |
