Is it possible (or maybe worth-able) to bring together these two EVE careers? What I would like to know is there an option to use exploring to find some "rooms" with lost wrecks or ships, to bookmark, go back with salvager and take the loot, while few minutes before I collected some of the data, relics and gas with my Covert Ops ship from the same area?
Is it worth to invest both into exploring and salvaging (as I'd need to buy skills for these two careers to make it work properly) and fit two different ships? |

there are no sites like that, the closest you have are relic sites that give salvage loot but you need a relic analyser for that.
but if you fit a combat probe scanner onto your ships you can scan down wrecks from other peoples missions and steal them. Note that your likely to be shot at if you warp in when the person is still there. |

Salvaging wrecks is not stealing.
Salvaging the wrecks does not flag you as a suspect, if you are in high sec. and the mission runner shoots you they will lose their ship to concord and gain a criminal flag.
if you steal the loot from the wreck then you will gain a suspect flag and the mission runner (and everybody else) will be able to shoot you freely. |

Also, some mission runners blitz their missions, not caring if anyone touches their wrecks. When I run level 3s, I turn them blue, then leave a blue can containing a bookmark to my latest pile o' wrecks outside of the station where I do my turn-ins. I believe I may be somewhat unusual in taking the time to do such a thing, but keep your eyes open anyway.

Yes, you can combine the two. You will need to know a bit about customizing your overview, probing and bookmarks. You will need to know some dscan basics. You will also want to get into a salvaging boat, one with tractor beams and salvagers on it. you will also want to determine whether you want to ninja loot/salvage or ask for permission from whoever is running the sites.
The process will be something like this.
1. You will need an overview panel that specifically has wrecks added to it. You can add wrecks to a copy of a loot panel so it will show wrecks as well as unopened containers.
2. Probe down all of the sites in a system so you know what sites are combat sites and what sites aren't. Save the combat sites as bookmarks. This is important, especially if you have a scanning boat, a hacking boat and a salvaging boat that you can switch between. As soon as you dock or leave system, the scan results will reset. Protip, use the signature ID in your bookmark. so when you go back, you will know what belongs to what.
3. Align to one of these bookmarks and dscan it at 5 degrees. Make sure your dscan is using the overview panel that has wrecks on it and make sure it is using your camera view. this of course assumes you know dscan basics and can get within 14AU of the bookmark. Protip - you can see the bookmark pins in your map view of the solar system. a mouseover of one of these pins will tell you the distance. if its more than 14AU, warp to a close celestial and dscan again.
4. if wrecks pop up, you can switch overview panels to see if there are actively players there still fighting.
5. Now you have the intel to determine if you want to warp in and start salvaging/looting. |

For a new player I'd recommend a Destroyer with salvagers and some tractor beams. Especially if you put a salvage tackle rig on it, you have a pretty decent ship to skim a larger field of wrecks. It's always better to use a ship for the job it was fitted for, trying to cram everything on 1 ship will make it a jack of all trades, master of none... and will be subsequently frustrating to fly. Unless you are at a grave risk bringing out a dedicated PVE ship, you are always better off using the more specialized ship for the task. |

Great stuff. There also is a "Free Wrecks" chat channel if I am not mistaken. If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there. |
