Constantly Outraged Sebiestor

An elderly Minmatar woman, locked in a bureaucratic struggle with Tribal authorities, has astounded medical experts by refusing to die, despite her advanced age of well over a century.
The woman, giving her name as "Stjyerna", claims that Tribal authorities have continually refused to grant her full citizenship, claiming that her ambiguous genetic makeup means no Tribe has a claim on her.
"They say their tests show I am apparently 1/8th Sebiestor, 1/8th Brutor, 1/8th Vherokior, 1/8th Krusual, 1/8th Thukker, 1/8th Nefantar, 1/8th Starkmanir and 1/8th what they call 'miscellaneous, probably Ealurian', and because of this, no tribe has a greater claim than any other, meaning I can't be adopted into a tribe. My daughter, because she's 9/16ths Sebiestor, she got accepted by the Tribe. I named her Vackra Oseri+¦sa, after her father. It's Sebiestor for 'handsome rogue', or so I'm told."
Stjyerna has been arguing with Tribal authorities for decades, and despite her age, is showing no signs of slowing down in her battle against bureaucracy.
"Even if she can't have a tribe, she's 7/8ths Minmatar, and she doesn't give up, the Republic should grant her citizenship", said one passer by, responding to Gutter Press questioning. "Bureaucracy! something we should never have imported from the Gallente!", said another passer-by.
Meanwhile, other returning Minmatar face trouble integrating into wider society.
"I used to drive a grass-cutter machine, for sportball pitches and parks, in Kor-Azor", said one man. "Now, they say I can't get a job better than picking litter off the grass, because those jobs are 'reserved' for Tribe members, and I don't have a Tribe yet".
"The Elders said I would be free, but they never said anything about having to argue with bureaucrats to get a house", said one woman. "I've been on this waiting list for months!"
"It's not as bad as it sounds, the returnees need to be placed in the Tribe that they belong to", said an official. "When claims are complicated, the procedures we have to follow take time." "It does a returnee no good, to be placed in the wrong Tribe", said another official. "The difficulty in accepting their Minmatar heritage is unnecessarily increased, and can lead them to dark paths, such as the Cartel."
As confidence in Shakor's dynamic government grows, these difficulties will be overcome, and returnees will be able to appreciate their Minmatar heritage. |

Hey, picking litter off the grass is an important job that benefits everyone and the environment. Usually such jobs are done without pay by criminals and miscreants...

Reminds me of those Ethnic Gallente who try to take work days off for Intaki religious holidays on the grounds that they're 1/64th Intaki. Watch Fred Fred Frederation and stop cryptozoologist! Fight against the brutal genocide of fictional creatures across New Eden! Is that a metaphor? Probably not, but the fru-fru- people will sure love it! |

I'm sure 3/4ths would be plenty justification assuming you practice the Intaki faith or have family/friends you need to spend time with that do.
Though I was merely commenting on how it seems some people will use minor parts of their ethnic background to try to gain something out of it. I'm 50% Deteis and I certainly never did anything related to Wayism. Watch Fred Fred Frederation and stop cryptozoologist! Fight against the brutal genocide of fictional creatures across New Eden! As if every government in the cluster doesn't have their own share of bureaucratic nonsense. This kind of situation is hardly unique to the Republic. Bureaucracy, with its labyrinth of rules and regulations, is a fact of life in every developed society.

They sure do. But bureaucracy revolving around race and background isn't something to shrug off. Even still, all Empires have examples of such. It does not make it right though, nor should it be ignored.

Ah bureaucracy. An insidious and necessary evil. Even on our ships there are the petty functionaries who draw up the crew rosters, approve leave, authorize pays, allocate berths, order toilet paper and audit stocks of ball point pens. My Machariel has a crew of more than 5000 and necessitating about 125 "administrators" all of whom have an inflated sense of worth and importance. Happily I have an executive officer who despises these type of people and rather heavy handedly keeps them in line and my ship running smoothly.
Being 100% Brutor myself I really can't relate to this womans difficulties, though perhaps I do understand her desire to be a part of a tribe, and the sense of belonging that will bring. The idiots at the bureau should have made her a member of her husbands tribe, as it seems her daughter has been made a part of. |

Nowhere have I said that this issue shouldn't be addressed. I was attempting to get in front of what I felt was the opening shot in yet another Matari bashing thread.
Please stop trying to paint every post of mine as some sort of "we Minmatar good, all you other peoples ebil!" caricature, Pilot. It's getting tedious and frankly, also offensive.

Please stop being so easily offended where no offense was intended. It is getting quite tiring to have any discussions with you because you feel hurt and flinch when people sneeze. I clearly said in that post that all empires have poor bureaucratic processes. You seem to have selective reading.
