The situation reached a boiling point when the boys refused to play outside with their dad GÇö instead, staying loyal and committed to their Apple products.
"That's kind of when it hit me because I'm like, wow, when I was a kid, I lived outside," Blair told the Toronto Sun.
He decided the need for drastic intervention was imperative GÇö and drastic, it was.
Not only are Trey and Denton now living without their beloved i-devices, they're learning what it's like to be a kid in the year 1986 GÇö the very year their parents were born.
That's because Blair and Morgan have placed a complete ban on any technology developed after that year. Go ahead, let that jaw hit the floor.
I don't blame them. Technology has become so advanced in our lives, that we've forgotten what its like to be "social" without our devices.
Then again, I wouldn't be able to live without technology and my internet spaceships. They are precious. Recruiting! WOSET Recruitment My adventure blog: Lone Wolf Adventures

Another parent taking things too far.
Ban the mobile devices but keep the PC's.
Thank goodness when my parents got tired of me being on the phone all the time (and as short as our phone cords were, we were literally "on" the phone), they didn't cut the cords and force me to communicate with handwritten letters only. |

When I was younger, (man I sound old when I say this) my parents only limited one hour to play video games, and if they say that I was playing more than an hour, they would come over and turn off my game. But I am grateful that they didn't cut technology, that would be dreadful! Recruiting! WOSET Recruitment My adventure blog: Lone Wolf Adventures

I work in IT, and some days I wish I lived just like that family. In fact, sometimes I deliberately go out of my way (on camping trips or holidays) to areas with no internet or phone signal and it is AWESOME.
Nostalgia moment: My parents allowed me to have two hours of internet access every Saturday afternoon. I remember having to unwind the telephone extension cable to plug it in downstairs. Thinking about it, that was eighteen years ago. Holy smokes! I have a specific comb for my beard. |

Indeed. My friends would get so mad at me when I would go on a 4-5 hour walk in Golden Gate Park and NOT take my phone. Sorry, but a phone is the last thing I want in that environment.

I could stand just having no technology for the weekend, that would be great. I think just taking a break from technology for a day would be okay.
But for 7 months with no technology? Now that is just crazy! And also losing your job on top of that is wrong. Recruiting! WOSET Recruitment My adventure blog: Lone Wolf Adventures

My cellular is 6 years old. I barely use it and its battery lasts about one week. It haves a VGA camera (640 x 480 pixels) but I never used it (and don't ask me how to take a picture with my phone).
I've never had a profile on any social network. Googling my real name barely produces a few pages of results, and most of them are about someone with a similar name and a social network profile ().
I think that I've uploaded less than ten pictures of me to the Internet, ever.
I consider myself a IT-luddite and I'm proud of it.

Been listening to groovy sounds of The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, and A Saucerful of Secrets on my hi-fi for over 45 years. Kind of getting scratchy.
Just kidding, the first Floyd album I listened to was Ummagumma . |

You come from Austria- the hair and everything, every single day was way awesome in Austria in the eighties. Proof.
Germany however really had an issue with hair in the eighties, and not only scalp hair: Proof

Being born in the 70's, probably I enjoyed the 80's better. Lots of great music, some great films, and the feeling of impending nuclear doom as background of childhood and youth... we're survivors!
I recall being like 10 and thinking, "what if some idiot American or some idiot Russian screws up, and we're caught in the middle?" That thought used to p*ss me off a lot... The Greater Fool Bar is now open for business, 24/7. Come and have drinks and fun somewhere between RL and New Eden! |

I've been born in the 70'ies too, so yea, I do remember the 80'ies quite well... especially because I have a brother 10 years older then me, so I also experienced the live of a teenager in that decade, even though I was still a child.
I agree on movies and some of the music... but other then that... I dunno. The 90'ies brought so much more innovation and interesting stuff... "ginger forum goddess, space gypsy and stone nibbler extraordinaire!"
