My minmatar main will be for combat. Are there any advantages to a particular race for a secondary account? I'm thinking this second account will be used mainly for ISK producing activities, or occasional combat support for my minmatar main.
p.s. I thought I posted this earlier today but it never showed on the forum (sorry if it duplicates somehow). |

There aren't any bonuses per race. The only "advantage" that you'd have is the starting location (relative to where you may want your alt to operate) or which starting skills you get for free (Amarr ship stuff vs Caldari ship stuff, etc).
For the most part, it makes no difference. Any race can train any ship skills (any skills for that matter). Just pick whatever works for you. |

What the guy above said. It is just down to which race is more appealing to you by looks. |

The Gallente can be socially apt and tactful, so a Gallente character might be able to compliment your Minmatar main. Then again, depends on the kind of compliment you're expecting, and the context. Having an Amarr slaver tell you that you're super valuable and he wants to get to know you better is pretty awful, despite it being a compliment. As the above posts mention there are no racial bonuses, although if you are looking for races' ships there are a couple of choices.
After you train your Minmitar ships a good secondary race for your primary to train in would probably be Gallente due to the awesome Vindicator and Machariel which will require your main to be trained up in both races. So perhaps you could get your alt to train in Caldari or Amarr to compliment your ship (including non-combat ones) selection.
Check out the selection of blockade runners. It is often nice to give this skill to a "money making" alt account, and the 4 racial variants have different advantages.
You might want to also have a character with a decent Caldari and Amarr standing since Jita and Amarr are the two largest trade hubs.
So birth race is not important, but I think someone with Amarr/Caldari training and standings will compliment your main. |

I don't create Amarr alts anymore, since they are the only race that can't use a stock rookie ship as cyno ship.

What you start out as, does not matter as has been said multiple times. That being said, I second the idea of a Minmatar/Gallente PvP main and a Support/Caldari/Amarr alt, simply because this will offer you the greatest variety of game-play and will cover all of your bases. |

While being ever so slightly biased ;) I'd suggest looking to Caldari ships. Primarily due to plenty of PVE options that can fund your PVP activities on your Minmatar char as well as some very viable combat support roles - Logistics, Recon ships as well as hauling vessels. |

Remember you aren't locked in to any races ships. You are what you fly. You can often branch out your main to a new races ships with the shared skills already covered.
For example, if your Minmatar main can fly an armor Rupture, he has good gunnery skills, good armor skills, and good navigation skills. If he wants to fly a Maller all he has to train is Amarr cruiser 4 and pulse lasers, which is a quicker train than training that + all those armor and gunnery skills! |
