I recall someone once saying, we made EVE cos we wanted to play an excellent realtime space game. For the first few years of EVE that seemed to be the ethos in the continued development of it. Lets make this cool.
I find that a more capitalist ethos is now the case. With the drive for more subscribers in previously unexploited markets. Fair enough, a tap into a massive market helps bring in funds which affords better hardwrae and more development. But this has clearly been to the detriment of the rest of the existing playerbase.
1st Killmails are truncated to fit dual byte eastern character sets. Now the servers suffer massive lag caused by what can only be over population in certain area's. And I hear Ebaying ISK is now legal?
Am I completely mad, or have CCP leaders changed tack, from a Game for gamers, to a game for bankers?

"B. Selling Items and Objects You may not transfer, sell or auction, or buy or accept any offer to transfer, sell or auction (or offer to do any of the foregoing), any content appearing within the Game environment, including without limitation characters, character attributes, items, currency, and objects, other than via a permitted Character Transfer as described in section 3 above. You may not encourage or induce any other person to participate in such a prohibited transaction. The buying, selling or auctioning (or any attempt at doing so) of characters, character attributes, items, currency, or objects, whether through online auctions (such as ebay), newsgroups, postings on message boards or any other means is prohibited by the EULA and a violation of CCP's proprietary rights in the Game. "
Quoted directly from the EULA, you cannot sell acounts.

Yes about the lag, they are upgrading the servers very soon.
Killmails, sigh.... they are stupid to begin with.
And ISK, still illegal to sell.

I don't know what you've been listening to to get this info but it's false.
I can definitely say that CCP are still making Eve because it's their game and they want it to be cool. It's always been that way. If they want to do something and think it's a good idea, they'll do it. They aren't trying to make a huge amount of money off this, the game has just expanded faster than anticipated and there are teething problems. There are HUGE server upgrades on the way. They're pouring all the cash they can spare into projects to make eve great, including these server upgrades. They certainly aren't hoarding it.

Killmails are a work in progress and I like how you ruled out every other explanation than over population.

Buying ISK is legal. Just buy GTC and sell them for ISK. The difference? CCP gets the $$$ instead of IGE (or other resellers). Peace!

It took several years after the start of the initial developement of eve that CCP managed to get out of the red numbers (i think it was around the end of 2004). The devs may be gamers, but they also want to make a living of it, obviously.
Its true however, that the current lag situation is unbearable and pretty obvious that the good old (not to say outdated) original Tranquility server has reached its limit.
But new hardwaver is already on the way, and i canŠt even imagine how deep CCP had to reach into the pocket to pay for a brand new server cluster with latest technology.
So i will refrain from whining about lag till we get our new server, and cross my fingers that everything will be better then.
And i would refrain from ebaying ANYTHING eve related if you dont want to risk a permanent ban

Ohh please.
That ethos of ccp keeping it real and away from the paracitical traders market of online materials is long gone.
CCP had a choice, they chose wrong.

Would improve the quality of the gameplay if the killmails were completely removed. In every game where you can have accurate statistics of your "kills" it leads into many kids doing extremely lame things to boost their statistics and virtual p****s.
So don't be angry about something being made more realistic and solving some of the problems. I wish they removed them completely and fast, that would be just good for most of the players.

It's because I have revision to do for a university exam. So naturally, I'm procrastinating! Also, nobody seemed to notice me before I got my sig :p.
