Im interested in exploration, but it seems that its a solo career path.
Would someone please explain how do explorers help out in a corp environment?
Aside from selling the stuff I find in data/relcic sites, I dont see how I can help. |

Data/relic sites are pretty much solo things, yeah. However, virtually every other type of site benefits a lot from groups.
-Combat sites (Unknown) in lowsec/nullsec especially can be quite long/difficult and are often best done with others. -Wormholes are full of further sites with Sleepers which are...also usually best done in groups. The higher-end WHs, requiring friends, offer the best rewards. -Gas sites can of course be shared with people in your corp who can do gas mining properly, though that's a very niche thing. |

Before an explorer could find grav sites for the corpmates to mine. Unfortunately those were changed from signatures (had to be probed) to anomolies which everyone can see and are likely mined out before you ever saw it. This was widely seen as "A Bad Idea" but the devs were not swayed.
If your corp likes to daytrip wormholes, the you can find candidates for them. Otherwise I can't think of anything the Explorer does that isn't better done solo. This is the rule:-á In Eve it's always a trick. If you don't think it's a trick, you just don't have enough experience to know what the trick is. That doesn't mean you shouldn't launch on that fool anyway and roll the dice. |

The main benefit you bring to a corp is scanning skills. If you can probe sigs down fast, you can also probe down ships faster. Pirate groups will love that. Wormhole corps are practically based on daily scanning work.
That's really it. But it's a big selling point - scanning. |

I have started exploration myself. Its pretty clear to me that exploration brings some nice things, both for you and a corp. However, the more I play it the more clear it is to me that exploration cant stand alone. Therefore I have gotten a wider focus, started to get a good combat ship, done mission running + some INDY. I suggest you do the same, then you also have more to offer a future corp. |

I have a similar question - I'm also going the exploration route - but planning to end up with one of the covert ops frigates with very strong cloaking capabilities. How do these ships factor into corp play, except as scanning platforms in lo/null sec space? |

One covert ops ship is a scanning platform (for the most part). The other is a stealth bomber that's good for all kinds of nice spaceship explosion effects |

Covert ops are the bread and butter of wormhole living, and people who like scanning are highly sought after, especially in higher lclass wormhole corporations. |

@OP: While most exploration stuff is geared towards solo work, those skills you develop in scanning will come in handy in a lot of PVP situations. Most corps would love a dedicated scanner/prober to hunt targets in safespots, set up tacticals etc.
That and most of what others before me have said (wormholes and other limited group PVE content) |

One of the best applications of covops in PVP is to provide a warp-in: meaning you creep up on someone while cloaked. Once close enough, your entire fleet / squad warps on you. This technique can be used to kill sniping Tornado's off a gatecamp, for example. |
