I hope CCP has this bug (or whatever means of this change) high on the priority list as no one is doing lvl2 missions anymore atm!!
Before RMR lvl2 missions were very duable with my Thorax cruiser! And it should be as the rewards of lvl2 missions are average 100k ISK!
Now explain to me whats the fun to be ganked bij heavy armed missile cruisers with warp disrupters and a fleet of destroyers in a simple lvl2 mission wich gives a reward of 99k ISK in Renyn System?? As this is now the case since RMR??
I alone lost 3 cruisers last week due to this crap and stopped doing missions till this is getting resolved! My whole corp and alliance is complaining about it!!
NOW... If CCP decided to make lvl2 missions harder ...well thats fine with me, but then please raise the reward to lets say 1mil ISK? As at the difficulty the lvl2 missions are atm you at least need a BS or team up with peeps to be able to complete them! And seriously ...no one is interested to risk his ass in a 7mil ISK cruiser for a lazy 50k ISK reward!!!
GET THINGS RIGHT PLEASE!! So we can progress trough our missions again!! THANKS!! -------------- Guillight BLue [L F C] <IFC> |

I agree with u on the reward on that difficult Lv. But I haven't faced one that I can't complete in a AF even if really hard and acctually envolves some thinking (nice).
But Alot of player don't have that SP that I have (only 8 mil) and there for I really think the reward should be raised if new players take effort to team up now when CCP try to enforce teamplay earlier then before .
But try smaller ships seems better then big here tbh. And learn to know witch missions to skip if u must =)

I am flying a cyclone with no problems with the new or old missions what-so-ever (3 M SP whereas 1.7 in learning and 0.9 in spaceships cmd.)
If I can fly them without any problems at all I think you should be able to complete them with some care.
Also the rewards seems better than they where a couple of months ago, but maybe thats jsut my bad memory

We tried various ships ..even smaller ones ;) Still the heavy cruisers and warp disrupters (sometimes even webifiers) are crazy for a lvl2 mission!! Most players who start on lvl2 missions will have hardly more then 1mil SP and lack the ISK to go beyond destroyers or a cheap cruiser!
I don't mind if CCP wants to encourage Teamplay ...hell I have welcome it! But indeed ...if the current state of the lvl2 missions is the way CCP want it?? Then no one will do them anymore for the crappy ISK you get for them now! With the current difficulty you need a small gang of decent players to complete them ..so a reward of 1mil ISK is minimum!!
So atm CCP has 2 options:
1. Put lvl2 mission difficulty back as it was before! 2. Raise reward to at least 1mil ISK! -------------- Guillight BLue [L F C] <IFC> |

I've been doing level 2 missions in a Moa Cruiser and none of them were any real challenge...moved on to level 3 missions recently.
Now level 3 missions are hard...they are kicking my ass :)
And I don't have many skill points so it's not that...

Did you do lvl2 missions after RMR?? As I had no problems with my thorax on lvl2 missions before RMR either ;-)
And it's possible that only the Galente lvl2 missions are bugged!

Level II missions are perfectly doable in a Thorax. If you're getting pasted, do some level I missions until your skills improve.

I've had no problems running lvl2 agents since RmR with my 'ceptor. Lvl3 on the other hand, as mentioned before in this thread, are kicking my ass using my BC or Assault Frig....Portal to war has to be the absolute worst.

I am not complaining about the missions. The ships some of you suggest are T2 ships that take time to get the skills and also take a lot of ISK. Assault frigates, interceptors, battlecruisers, etc; those are advanced ships. You can do lvl 3 missions in those things.
A newer player can do the regular missions with a cheaper cruiser. However the "Human Cattle" mission has some parts that are tough as hell.
IMO, I think the missions are ok as is. The Human Cattle one appears once in awhile. So you can decline it when you get it. OR if you want ot run it, bring a friend along to help out. I think they are encouraging teamplay without forcing it upon us.

I started doing lvl 2 missions yesterday with my Punisher and they don't seem very tough. I had no problems until now except on the Tech Secrets mission which required a friend in a AF to complete it for me. But except that everything is ok, they don't seem so tough. BTW i have 700k SP with half of them in engineering and i have no problems tanking the damage :)

I never did Level 2 missions before RMR. I have to say that I agree. WHOA, they're hard. Compare this with a Level 1 mission and there's no comparison. There's no preparing for it. Human Cattle was my second mission and I lost 2 Vexors trying to figure it out. I can now solo it, but it'd be nice if you worked up to it. Level 2 missions shouldn't all be the same difficulty. Shouldn't be a major difference between a Level 1, Quality 19 and Level 2, Quality -19.
And yeah, the rewards are pretty silly considering the risk and time it's been taking. I've invested and lost millions trying to do these quests and have little to show for it.
I do have to say, though, that they are FUN! I love that they're hard. You actually do have to think and strategize. Great work on these missions, guys! Some more ISK would be worth the risk. :)
Maybe even have them drop better loot? I'm tired of getting only useless Level 1 items from such hard scenarios.
(I'm changing back to mining in the meantime. Seems more financially rewarding than those hard but fun missions.)

I just did 3x level 2 missions in my osprey. I have less than 1 mil sp in combat (2 mil elsewhere). I did not see any webifiers or warp jammers though. The "boss" was 2 cruisers, 1 heavy missiles and the other with lights. I have always engaged at 50k with 1x hvy missile launcher and 2x 250mm rails. Normally they are dead by the time my drones reach them, but sometimes I take some damage.

Running lvl 2 missions out of Inoue in a "Caracal", no problems there. Silence the Informant was a breeze, actually easier than I thought. This Tech Secrets is more challenging with these Minmatar ships you face. Done 2 parts of 3, today the 3rd Minmatar fleet assault. Last time I had to warp out a few times to get shields up because of those nasty bigger ships there, but after that I could sit and blow the rest to oblivion. Maybe the setup of your ship is that matters, I can keep shield booster on all the time as my cap recharges fast. I use cap rechargers on both low slots and in 3 med slots, medium shield extender(named one) and a medium T2 shield booster on rest 2 med slots, does the trick. -----------------------------------------------------

I'm doing L2 missions in a cruiser regularly, and haven't failed the Navy yet. Some people are doing them in Shuttles. At least, I hear people say "take a shuttle in first" blah blah. ;)
Never really tracked ISK earnings closely, but I've noticed that I've had several L2 missions with payout + time bonus over 550k. One was 599k or 600k even. Now, if I include bounties taken during the mission, I saw one massive mission basically pay me 1.4 million ISK, excluding whatever crap loot dropped. I think that happened more than once.
Anyway, L2 kill missions are doable in a cruiser solo. Even Tech Secrets (3 of 3) and Silence the Informant, two of the arguably most difficult ones.
But if it helps, Tech Secrets is being nerfed this next patch, as per the patch notes that no one reads.
This may not be the case/issue for you specifically, but a number of people fast-track their characters straight to cruiser after starting their characters off with Frigates 4. That's fine right up until you undock in your newb cruiser with your newb cruiser skills - because you really have suck for skills and player experience at that point. CCP shouldn't, imo, be balancing missions to account for that weak character building strategy.

Ive done my LVL 2 missions in my Caracal. Only mission that was challenging was the "tech. secrets" one, which i have done 4 times without any loss or being forced to warp out. I dont recal facing any that scrambled or webbed me for that matter, in any of my lvl 2 missions. SWG Exile from Chimaera. |

I m a newbie and i did this "tech secrets" missions twice already and never had any problem ; simply dont stay at short range if they scramble you.
Kill them from 40 kms away, warp to station for armor/hull repiar then go back and kill the remaining boats.

The only mission I have problems with is "Human Cattle", all others rarely require me to turn on the armor repper.
Setup: Thorax with High 3x250mm, 2x150mm Med AB, Web, varying module (currently a cap charger I think) 400mm armor, med repper, exp and kin hardener, something I forgot 5 medium drones matched to enemy
Usual tactics: Load up with Tungsten Ammo, keep enemy at 50km and fire away. No need to circle, their range is too short. Missile NPCs sometimes hit (especially in the "Silence the informant") but not enough to harm. If the foe closes within the range that the 250mm stop tracking I set my drones on him while webbing. Sometimes I switch to Antimatter and dive in if I am bored. Main problem: looting takes long.
Ratting tactics works the other way round, I've taken 200k bounty BCs with a close range rax full of blasters circling them on full AB.
BTW, move to low sec. My agent is paying me around 600-700k for a Silence mission if she is in a bad mood.

don't understand why you have problems, they are not that hard... perhaps you need to recheck the agent level :)
I could do all but the last part of human cattle in my stabber.
I hope you were not trying to attack the fleet at the end of Human Cattle, cozz they have webbers and scramblers, but you don't have to kill them..., only the ship at the entrance.
Anywayz now I am in a rupture and I don't even have a problem with Human Cattle anymore... heavy missiles help alot :)...
only 500k sp btw

Just a word to you guys doing the "Human Cattle" mission level 2 agent style...
In part 5 after the second jump gate...that's only for the strong stomache type peeps. If you destroy the webbing frigate there, then the mission is complete. You don't have to go after the plethora of Battleships, cruisers and frigates. Besides...who's interested in destroying their standing with Amarr and Caldari so much that they can't fly through Empire without being destroyed in the respective faction's systems.....not me.

Edited by: Hex''Caliber on 10/01/2006 16:04:11 I have np doing level 2 agent missions in a celestis. I have completed human cattle about 6 times post rmr, all of them solo. I would suggest taking a look at your tactics. I have even done a couple of level 3's in my celestis post rmr. I do own a rax and brutix but see no point in using them on missions that I clear easily in a cheaper ship. *Edited to point out my char is 1 month and one week old*.

This thread must be a joke. You seriously have trouble doing level 2 missions in a cruiser!?
I'm doing them in interceptors and assault frigs all the time. You pop ships faster then you can lock them. It's so easy it's not even funny (but gotta do it to increase standing).
Any specific missions which are supposedly "hard" to do?
Hint: maybe your setup sucks (if you can't tank any lvl2 in a Thorax I would rather much expect this to be the case), or you could try flying a smaller ship so the enemies can't even hit you, stuff like that...
I'm positive it would be trivial to do most lvl2's in any decently fitted t1 frigate. Warp in, lock-boom-lock-boom-lock-boom-done. Maybe take a look at the mission running forum to look for better ship setups?
(Yes I'm talking post-RMR)

I have done all my lvl 2's in one caracal. Its fitted so that a low SP player can use it. I dont use T2 stuff, its to expensive.
H 5 Heavy launchers fitted with missiles suitable for the rats you are killing. M AB, Webber, Shield Booster, Harnder, Painter (The last 2 I swap as needed, sometime 2 hardners and sometimes none & 2 cap boosters) L 2 Missile Damage Mods.
I have only had to warp out on the final stage of a 700K isk reward mission but appart from that the secret is to keep them at range. DON'T go towards them as that means they all agro you and get into their firing range VERY quickly. Once they are all around you its over for you unless you know how to handle them. I use the fact that if you target and then activate the target painter the ships will come towards you, when in range I open fire at them one by one.
Dont worry if you have to warp out, just recharge, reload and go back in. If you are unsure if you can survive, leave and re-try it, dont wait till the last minute as by then its usually to late to warp and you will loose your ship. << Insert whitty sig here >>

I don't think this is an across-the-board problem, maybe just with some missions. I have right around 300k skill points and have completed five Caldari L2 missions in a Merlin for a -17 agent. They haven't been easy and I have had to warp away more than once, but I haven't been killed yet.

I managed to solo the Human Cattle line in a Vexor with 290k skill points.
My first pass through, however, I got wasted. I got this chain on my second day in my Vex :( Lost it. Warp scrambler in mission 4 ftl.
Beyond the Human Cattle chain, once I could solo it, the rest of the level 2's were cake.
