Hi.
Everyone keeps telling me that I need to join a corporation if I want to make it in Eve. I posted in the recruiting section of the forums but I'm not getting any attention. How does one find a corporation to join? I'm starting to get frustrated.
Is it rude to start submitting applications to corps shown in the in-game search? I know that was considered rude in other games I've played. |

How to find the corp that is right for you.
Its a long read but should be helpful
For your second question... It changes from corp to corp. Some will prefer that you have an interview with their recruiters before you apply, some will want you to apply so they know you are interested. Read over their corp description and forum adverts and they might tell you how they prefer a recruit to proceed. This is Eve. There is no point in being the prey and wait for predators to find you.
Hence the trick is to do your homework, you are not going to wait for a corp to find you but you are going to be hunting for a corp that suits you.
You can have a look on the recruitment channel in game, the recruitment thread and you can also have a look at http://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/11diq2/reve_job_fair_part_3/
This should help you figure out what kind of corps there is out there. Once you have figured that out, you want to look into specific corps and talk to the people. Don't be shy, come by their in game channel, introduce yourself and all.
Once you have found a bunch of good pals, you apply and PROFIT !

Some major new player friendly training groups are:
Eve University-More rules, more structure, broad focus on teaching. Brave Newbies Incorporated-Entirely focused on new players having fun. Chaotic. Lives in lowsec. Die a LOT. Red vs Blue-Highsec PvP alliance made up of two corporations that just fight eachother all day every day. |

What you want to do also helps when joining a Corp. If you want to run missions, joining an indy/mining Corp probably isn't for you. Read up on what the different Corps offer and what they do. Choose the Corp that best suits what it is you want to get out of Eve.
Also: If you do find a Corp that you think is a good fit and turns out its not, don't feel bad about leaving and trying again. Abandon all hope ye who x up in fleet |

Hi Darren,
Have you condidered E-Uni as a stepping stone to your own career?
It's an ideal Corp for learning the game mechanics, as well as having fun at the same time.
See our Calendar for Public Classes
and here is a link to our Wiki
Give me a shout if you need anymore info. :)

Sometimes the corporation finds you. We tend to recruit people that roam into our area, at gunpoint
As a CEO I do not consider a straight up application to be rude, but it's mildly annoying if there is nothing in the textbox to go on. If you put in an application, you communicate a very clear intent to everyone in that corp that can process an application. That might speed up the process a bit. Also don't worry too much about being rude, boldness and pro-activity are positive characteristics. |
