They aren't banned as such, you just have to post in the Out of Pod Experience forum, which also means you can't discuss EVE.. probably because you quitting doesn't need to be discussed, nor does it need to be posted in any way at all tbh.. unless you are well known forum ***** or something..

Edited by: Quanteeri on 09/01/2006 20:21:19 CCP provides ample space for posting reasons for quitting in the "Cancel My Subscription" dialogs. Posting them here only serves as an agitator.
As far as sincere "Goodbye" threads, they are allowed in Out of Pod, because they are usually more socially bent on saying goodbye to friends and not complaining about why one would be leaving.
CCP has even knows it. They've added the word BIGSHOT to the URL of my avatar. |

2 things:
1, are you the Sardaukar from MUME?
2, please change your sig, I doubt the author of that work likes seeing eBaum profit from theft.
Originally by: Oveur I am not interested in "the lottery sucks" or "more tech 2 blueprints" since that is pretty much stating the obvious.

... or if you are giving away all your stuff. That would be a good reason to post about it.
And why yes! I would be happy to take the pesky excess stuff of any quitting person.

Maybe YOU should quit, Anglyson.
Seriously, "I quit" posts have no place in general discussion. They have ZERO constructive content. They're just a waste of space. -------------------------------------[04:04:04] Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk

Where else should these people post their concerns?
Honestly, would it not be better for them to vent here to the community than to move on to another gaming community and vent there, thereby keeping many probable future players away from the game?
I submit that the best place for gripes to be placed in the open is right here where quality damage control can take place. It's not as if half of the EVE community is suddenly going to drop out of the game because someone posts an "I'm quitting" thread.
SOE surely will not be able provide any compensation for a bad playing experience for EVE, only CCP can do that. SOE will only be overjoyed to add another player to their ranks and keep the anti EVE flames burning high.
Besides, where better to complain about an issue than among people who understand the issues at hand? No one else will now what the hell they are talking about.

Oh, good point.
"Who Wants My Stuff?" Is a completely different topic from "I Quit"
Giving away your stuff is completely relevant to EVE, so they're quite welcome in General Discussion. -------------------------------------[04:04:04] Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk

Excuse me, are you saying that now their are censoring "I quit" Posts too?
Just where are they going to end?
This is very, very, very worrying. Eve has always been known for it's good communication with the teams, do they really want to change this as to be known as enacting incredibly harsh censoring?
First you had "one thread only" for huge problems (wich is a subtle way of censoring). Now, "no thread at all"?
If the game has problems, then those problems have to be spoken of on it's forums. "I quit" post are the pinnacle of this, as inside you will most likely find the details of why the person quits.
If you censor your forums so much that it becomes candy land, this is going to be known, no matter how hard you try to hide it. What is going to be known? That in this game the officials cannot be trusted, that they hide the truth by all means. And that's an awfull thing to happen :-/

Posting four hundred thirty seven threads about the same issue is not better than posting it all in the same thread. It's WORSE because it keeps people from discussing things TOGETHER, and more importantly, it wastes all of the Page One space.
Most of all, it's just stupid. -------------------------------------[04:04:04] Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk

A lot of it is quasi-trolling too. It's a combo of pirate whines who are frustrated they can't own battleship pve players in their frigates, miners who get angry they can't solo mine wherever they like, players who refuse to move out of a hub system yet complain constantly about lag, players who have lost everything through their own ineptitude but blame the game, and people who refuse to adapt to gameplay changes.
The point is a post has to be constructive. The usual run of 'this game is suxxor and I'm leaving so meh' fails the constructive test. I've never seen a post on 'I can't play this game because and so I'm going to have to quit; how did you find gameplay feature x?' A reasonable discussion on the difficulty of 0.0 access for very part-time players, the merits of the current security system and the problems of overpopulated empire space are all legitimate issues. But by the time people quit they have usually reached the end of their tether and are not looking for discussion.
