I'm not sure this is the right place to post this, if not bear with me and point me to the correct place (or maybe a mod can help move my thread?)
I'm developing a new web application for corporations and I'm doing the final touches for the first release. This includes CSS. Unfortunately the IGB doesn't seem to support full CSS3 functionality such as the -webkit-calc. Are there any plans to include this in the future? Also some elements like span do not show correctly when display:block is applied to them (I will elaborate further on this if needed), but workarounds do exist.
So the other question is: is there a browser that mimics IGB's limited functionality out of the game, which allows to debug and test styling on my development machine? |

Unfortunately devs have stated (you can quote me on this one) that they're not sure what to do with the IGB. They're currently evaluating if it's worth investing the time to further develop the IGB or if they should just throw it away completely. As such, don't expect any updates any time soon.
As for your second question, you could probably find an old version of webkit or even Chrome/chromium and use that to test your app. If I recall correctly, the IGB relies on chromium 3 or 4. If you're gonna post here thinking your idea is the greatest thing since bacon and that it will save EVE and possibly all humankind with it, you're gonna have a bad time. |

This.
It will never be as good as a normal browser, even if its based on an up to date webkit. And its not like we dont all alt-tab to do other stuff anyway.

Well that kinda is bad news for me. I've been designing my WHOLE application based on the fact that it will be running in IGB (including the special IGB javascripts, HTTP headers and so on). So should they decide to abandon the IGB, it would really set me back.
I know that it will never be as good as desktop browsers (rounded jagged elements already state this point), but it still offers something that the desktop browsers don't. I mean look at the feedback when they first released it: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=1148667. People kinda want it. Well, back then they wanted it.
As a professional dev, I sincerely hope that CCP doesn't remove the only window of interface that allows us to enhance Eve a little. |

As a pro dev you should know that if you tell a customer, "hey do you want something that sounds cool for free" they are never going to say no.
Are you saying your app has no value outside of the IGB? I find that hard to believe my friend. |

Yes it does have value, yet in IGB it has even more value due to the interface with Eve such as sending mails, setting destinations and inviting to fleet just with a click of a button. It would loose a little bit of "this tool works so great with Eve" factor. The system also automatically detects which user is using the application through headers, hence removing the need to log in with a username and password. I just love making my users' life easy.
Then again, the whole CSS issues are driving me nuts inside IGB, and is forcing me to write custom HTML helpers just to cater for the broken css selectors. I hope you now understand my concern about the IGB's existence since I'm investing so much time to make it work inside IGB. |

Does the IGB support PHP?
If it does, you potentially could get around some roadblocks with php bits. |

IGB supports client side languages such as HTML, JS and CSS. Php is a server side language. Besides that I'm already using Asp.net mvc 4 as a server side language, the issues I'm having are client side.
Thanks for your input though. |

A bit off topic, but this sentence scares me. You realise that the EVE HTTP headers are super easy to spoof right? Please tell me you have a second piece of authentication beyond this. You're a smart man. Yes that can be easily spoofed. But currently there is no functionality that spoofing will gain a user better priviledges over another. There is a plan to include a 2nd authentication when sensitive and proprietary data is introduced. |
