Physicists are still arguing about the technical limits of the suns influence, some say it's left and others say not quite yet I imagine there will be a few interesting papers published about it over the next couple of years.
The bit that's always confused me, is the disk Who or what exactly is ever going to see it in the next 300,000-500,000 years and after that amount of time, will it even matter by then anymore.
Apart from the occasional stray orphan planet there's nothing in interstellar space worth being there for |

Just in case.
It seems Voyger is is detecting something out there and with at least 10 years of life left it still isn't done discovering things. |

Yeah .. it's an excellent chance to get good solid data on conditions between the stars, hence my comment about interesting papers getting published.
It's just afaik it isn't really aimed at anything significant like another star i think its more probable, if we manage to survive as a species, that we'll reach which ever other star its heading towards before it does. |

It matters because long after we're gone that disc will probably still exist, some day hundreds of thousands of years from now when humanity has long since passed some civilization may discover that disc and they will know that we existed.
Think on that for a moment, the music of Mozart and Beethoven and many other artists contained on that disc may outlive us and this planet, and some day a child from another world might hear them for the first time.
How completely awe inspiring is that?
