Hi all,
I wanted to raise something I have noticed when starting up the launcher.
When it opens, I usually have the option to input my password immediately and log in within ~10 seconds of the launcher... launching, which then opens the client and so on, all up taking well under a minute to actually get into game. However, when I get capped/ shaped (Internet speed severely reduced after exceeding my monthy allocation), this process is delayed quite noticeably and the most annoying part about it is that, to me, a large portion of the time wasted waiting for the launcher to warm up is spent re-downloading the image of the Heron, Nemesis and Magnate for the launcher background.
Now I'm not sure if the image is actually downloaded everytime the launcher gets opened, but my launcher won't actually proceed until it has the full image loaded.
If this is the case, is it possible to have that image stored locally so that the laucher loads faster? It just seems kinda silly that the yellow loading bar has to wait for the image to finish before it's even inclined to move.
Thanks, I would love to see some responses pertaining to how the launcher actually functions on this matter. D.O.
TL:DR Annoyed that laucher has to wait for background to load before launching client, can image be stored locally? |

I believe the launcher loads a webpage, so it would need to cache the image. I doubt the launcher has a function to do that, so it would have to be implemented then tested. I don't see it being worth it to load an image faster that for most people loads instantly. |

Since they changed the launcher, it takes a lot of time for it to even start, its weird, but then new launcher is very slow, the previous one, loaded very fast. I tried everything, from allocating more I/O to the launcher process, gave it higher process priority, also put a higher CPU and Memory priority, modified CPU affinity. And still its slow, it sometimes loads fast, but its very rare, but usually it takes a lot of time until it launches. |

I used the new launcher when it first came out but I started experiencing a lot of crashes. My corpmates told me to use the EVE.exe file. Since then maybe 1or 2 crashes a month vs 3-4 a session. I open the launcher in the morning to check for patches ( downtimefor me is 2000 hrs local). When I play after work I just use the exe file. If there was an emergency shutdown or patch during the day it will say " incompatible " next to the status. |

to patch you can just load the eve.exe file if there is a patch it will open the launcher and download it. once its does all it need to patch you can close the launcher and reopen the eve.exe file. Thats why you can avoid the launcher as much as possible. |
