Passwords.
We all use them a lot, and the most sensible will use different passwords for different places.
Even those places you don't visit quite often.
And here comes the drama: what password did I used in that place?
The answer is known, as I do use a limited set of passwords, not more than 14 or 15 in total, and what password do I use depends upon the security requirements of each place and its relevance to me.
But alas!, this means that, whenever I don't recall the exact password to a cetain place, I must try... 14 times?
Of course, it would be easy to deduct what password I used in a place, if it told me what the requirements are. Must contain capitals/numbers/both? How long it should be? That would easily narrow it to 1 or 2 of my passwords.
But they NEVER give you any such clue.
So here I am, cursing Steam and waiting a recovery email so they allow me to recover my account, when a simple message saying "remember that we asked you a password that fulfilled requirements A and B and C" would let me pick the right pasword, or narrow it to very few choices. I feel your pain, especially now that every little app you download for your smart device requires a password to use. Get yourself a copy of this:

I have an app on my phone that I use to keep track of passwords for all of the "secondary" accounts that I don't have committed to memory. It's just fun when you forget the password to the app ><
Even at work we have a policy to switch your password every 90 days and you cant use one that you've used within the last five cycles. A coworker got tired of this and wrote a script that would change his password five times so that he could go back to the password he wanted to always use. Not exactly safe, but I gave him points for getting around the policy.
Needless to say, you're not alone here. |

I can't remember most passwords I have, which must be quite secure if even I can't remember them! Right? It has to be very secure if I can't remember them...! |
