ahh the thought i sometimes wonder in this job....
Five days ago, 04:30hrs in the tower at EC-P8R or P8R Control when requesting a jump vector. i look out the window and see 10-20 Minmatar ships just orbiting my gate radar reads about 50km out, 5 haulers the rest intercepters. seemed odd but i dont think about issues in realspace much its not my problem. then around 04:50 i get a jump request from a Providence class freighter on the Torrinos side, sensors tell me a crew of 300 hands. so i go about the usual clearing and low security warnings and open the gate, get the usual shakes and rattles on my side as a ship that huge takes lots of power to pull through. then as he emerges only seconds later the intercepters are allready setting in, frantic radios for help on deaf ears. and before long in an amazing flash the ship is gone, they even popped the capsule. watching the haulers searching as if looking for something and not the usual vulture work of pirates makes me wonder, is war really oh the Horizon.
i often wonder if in my position should i have not cleared the jump, or is it just my job to clear it anyway? but i loose no sleep over these things as ive seen it hundreds of times, and more commonly think these lone haulers should bring armed escorts.

It is definitely not the traffic control's job to start deciding when or not to grant pilots access to the gate. I suggest you guys concentrate on correcting the issues you have with high traffic in systems like Pator and Jita, and leave pilot business to pilots.

A tab bit harsh Elsebeth, and the crowded systems jump gate issues are not the jump gate staffs fault. It's the pod pilots as well you know..

Don't be too hard on yourself.
Just think what another man in your position would do: Probably laugh about it.
At least you feel something.

not to worry mate we are working on a solution to the traffic at our state of the art New Eden R&D plant. its looking promising, however the new Wide-Band wormholes are still loosing 75% of the test probes.

Isn't that the point of traffic controllers?

A little hint would be a help though, as in "You ARE aware that there are 42 red flashing battleships on the other side of that gate/station bulkhead just waiting for something to blow up."
I know there is a default warning when heading into lower security sectors, but it does not contain any information that cannot be gleaned from using a darn map.

It is a sign of the times friend, as you become more accustomed to the ways of the new age capsuleers, you realise that your emotions, feelings, whatever you wish to call them are all but gone.....
A tragic side-effect of being an inhabitant of New Eden for so long..... -
