As title states, who else does this? I think it would be good to get an idea of how much $$$ they might lose from their immaturity. They have lost $120 from me so far, I'm the type that pours money into MMOs but I refuse to support children.
This company basically promotes griefing and trolling. They IP ban people for online stalking, but then temp ban people for trying to rally the community behind them in promoting the suicide of a depressed player.
Consider this scenario: Some jerk won't stop lamenting a player with insults because he has no empathy and enjoy the reaction. The person being insulted gets very upset over time and starts "harassing" the bully to get back at him. CCP bans the victim and allows the bully to carry on.
The amount of times I have seen such vile, horrible unwarranted things said in game... only to report it... only to see that player still active with no consequence. The ToS is a joke, quite honestly. They pick and choose what they want to enforce. The result is some people get IP banned for standing up for what they think is right, while others get no ban at all for turning on their game for the sole purpose of bullying people and laughing as they get upset.
Think about this CCP. You can't deny you indirectly promote online bullying by acting in this way. It's a good thing you allow us to buy PLEX in game. No one with a moral compass at all would hand you a dollar of theirs.
My calculations state I would have coughed up just over $200 by the end of the year. Your loss and I hope others feel the same way as I do and add to that loss. |

Effectively CCP are doing two things.
First inversely affects the second
1) materializing new versions of old ships lost and folklore worthy 2) dropping the value of existing collectors ships (originals)
I care about neither personally. Never been a trillionaire nor do I care to try. Certainly not going to launch my rattle out of my pram about some other guy getting lucky.

Didn't you know? PLEX is magic. Rifterlings pirate corporation is now recruiting pilots for lowsec solo & small gang operations. Visit our website at www.rifterlings.com or join our in game channel weflyrifters to speak to a recruiter. |

I'm gonna bump this but for a specific reason.
I made this thread before I was aware of the SOMER Blink fiasco. Think about that for a moment. Nearly everything I'm saying in the OP is being repeated by dozens of people in the community on a daily basis since this SOMER incident.
What does that tell you, CCP? Someone makes all these negative claims about you. Then AFTER these claims are made, you go and commit actions which cause the rest of the community to more or less agree with me here.
How ridiculous, lol. |

I know. I hear from so many honest players whose favorite pastime is blowing up exhumers in hisec that they've reported players who harass them with disgusting, hateful messages, but never face consequences. Twitter: @EVEAndski

There is a distinct albeit somewhat subtle difference between tolerating activities and encouraging them. CCP built an environment that does tolerate higher levels of abuse than many others but they do have limits on that.
A great deal of this information is quite apparent to gamers without a lot of researching - asking will get you info on this starting out.
For those with serious/suicidal depression issues - they do not belong playing in such on-line environments. Flat out - PvP centric games are the most abusive types of games on the market.
Not everything should require soft padding and "comfort" for all interested in participating in those activities. Going bungie jumping as an bilateral amputee isn't all that bright and being suicidally depressed going into a PvP on-line game world - again, not something one should look at without *YOUR* compensating for the environment you are entering. |

I really don't get CCP politics and its relation to server population. The only solid correlation I have ever seen was Incarna. Thats it. No rhyme or reason to the amount of people playing vs. what they say or do.
CCP has been doing great lately and I see that activity is way down. GTA is the biggest video game ever but it wasn't released until the 17th of this month, so the decline prior to that is clearly unrelated.
http://eve-offline.net/?server=tranquility
People just come and go as they please. I used to get pissed at the Goons for what I thought was griefing too many noobs into quitting. But the only thing in five years I have seen definitively make people rage was Incarna.
So give them your money or don't. As mentioned, buying a PLEX is like handing them cash. The reason I use it is my wife would twist my nuts off if I had spent $2000+ of my own cash on this game (which is half hers due to the binary nature of marriage). Not so much to do with morales and such.
Vote with your dollar.

EVE is a great game because of the ability to gank, scam and generally be as evil as you like as long as you don't blow up first day players in 24 starting systems. If anything CCP has slowly been moving away from this foundation toward a more cuddly carebear as evidenced by their ToS changes, but thats not the EVE I've played for years.
For every scammer/ganker (and I do participate in ganks and scams) there is a counter to keep from being ganked and scammed. Not taking advantage of the mechanics afforded to you is called Darwin's Law. If you sit AFK in a hulk with a faction shield booster on not aligned to anything get in line with the lemmings and dodo birds. If you fly a mission battleship worth more than a super carrier, you can jump to the head of the line. As one wise poster once said, "you can't patch stupid".
For every whine change implemented to make the game more friendly, safe, and easy CCP will loose both their core player base and the person who did proposed the change. People who want a friendly atmosphere will never be satisfied no matter how many concessions they are given. If you don't believe me go ask Sony....they changed SWG to cater to the vocal minority and totally gutted their core player base, the whiners left and all they had was a broken empty game. |

Not entirely true. If you tank your mining barge as the current fittings permit, you can & will still be ganked by someone for LOLs. And mining for hours yet expecting a split second twitch response to 'maybe' be able to get to warp speed before you get ganked is unreasonable, being you can't sit aligned at speed due to range issues. So it's going to take a few seconds to get speed up.
Yes, there is stupid. Some of it is you also, failing to read anything CCP has explained about some things. But some of the ganking out there is real griefing. Some of the harrassment is purely to harrass. Not 'Emergent game play' but outright being a pure jerk just to make someone else quit the game. The trouble is telling the two apart as they are almost identical behaviour visually, since we don't brain scan the person behind the keyboard. |

Respect.
I really do love EVE, but am somewhat confused at the number of players that play the game or have for years that STILL fail to recognize how this world actually operates.
In a way it is similar to the person that has never been in jail and once there facing the "new rules" for that world, fails to adopt to the setting relying on the "old rules" of the free world population that is not incarcerated.
In there this can lead to a power rapeage and other unsavory experiences that could have been mostly avoided via adaptation to the surroundings.
Carry on. |
