Simple. Anywhere you can be PvP'd, unless you're in the ass-end of 0.0, or immideately logging in after downtime, you can and will be PvP'd with little or no warning whatsoever. [urll=http://photobucket.com/albums/v323/ShadowDragon8685/?action=view¤t=Hauler.jpg]My Sunday Indy[/url] |

Bottom line: People will kill you. They will kill you for a reason or more likely no reason at all. You will lose your ship. You will lose a lot of ships. The motto for survivablity, such as it is, in this game is "Trust No One". Eve has friendly people in it, but Eve is not a friendly place. You have some measure of safety in 0.5+ space but it is still no guarantee.
You were warned.

Edited by: Golerre Evraun on 18/01/2006 03:41:43 read the news, check the archive, all those big battles like the ones recently are all players with only a couple exceptions
there are some very big wars going on right now. and most of the time those involve very large fleets ---------------------------------------- If you ain't dyin, You Ain't tryin. |

I LOVE PvP, I cant wait to loose my first ship in PvP. I just had this vision of massive battle ships clashing and smaller ships zipping around inbetween them, explosions all over the place and such.

Yeah any noob with 2 days worth of training and a frigate can be cannon fodder / tackler for a PvP or warring corp. Just ask about.

There is at least one large battle somewhere in eve every night. And HUNDREDS upon HUNDREDS of smaller scale ones.

most of the pvp happen on small scale, 1 on 1, 2 on 1, 3 on 1 are probably 80% of all pvp

PvP happens everywhere, and the scale is everything from a one-vs.-one to a fleet of over 100 players duking it out with another 100 players.
Here are a few tips about PvP that relate to security status:
In 1.0 to 0.5 security status, the only PvP that regularly happens is between corps with a declared war. In almost all other instances, if you shoot someone who's not in your corp (which is allowed so you can test setups) you will be "CONCORDOKKENED", which is getting owned by CONCORD and the sentry guns.
These restrictions mean you rarely see PvP in high-sec Empire, though it does happen, usually on a skirmish level between warring corps (with occasional exceptions, such as the beginning of the North vs. The Five war, during which large fleets were fielded in Empire by both sides).
In 0.4 to 0.1, CONCORD does not exist but the sentry guns are still present. If you aggress another player, you are criminally flagged for 15 minutes unless you have a declared war, and the sentry guns will shoot you if you are at a gate or station or warp to such a location. Be aware that some players in larger ships can tank the sentry guns.
The restrictions in these systems again mean that skirmish-level warfare is more common, but small gank squads and even solo pirates are present as well.
In 0.0 anything goes - you can shoot anyone anywhere, and the only retribution you need fear is from the target himself and any friends he may have in the area.
The lack of restrictions in these areas mean that all types of PvP are present, from solo gankers to skirmishers to large gangs to massive fleets. -Wrayeth
