I see the following.
- Eve website making a ton of isk because they have an easy to use lottery system which attracts a lot of customers
- Never knowing where all that isk is going (not that it is any of my business)
- CCP putting a player made corporation/business/group of people in the spotlight (been done before)
- CCP giving them potentially trillions of isk worth of items. Even though they could just give them away themselves but they are giving them to a group of players to Then give to everybody else. I also noticed that it doesn't appear that anything will happen if Somer Blink just steals the trillion of ships and closed the shop for good.
So basically I think A LOT of us are asking a simple question in many different forms...
Why?
Answer we are not looking for...
Q2, I still donGÇÖt get it. Why a third party to give this stuff away?
A2, Growing community initiatives is something which is very important to us. Some of our fansites and third party outlets have 10 followers while others have tens of thousands. What we want to do is look at opportunities to foster goodwill with a range of sites and allow situations where we can support them and help them grow. As a result, we will be looking at putting a process in place which allows individual sites to run promotions which are sponsored by CCP. This may not always be unique ships or Fanfest trips but could be some signed artwork to give away or PLEX to hand out.
We have looked at this as a trial version of a program we would like to develop over time. In this instance, we jumped the gun and went too far. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=281298&find=unread
I think something needs to be made clear.
1. Giving away ships through a single player driven entity and excluding others. 2. Giving away a lot of in-game value to a profit driven entity. 3. Trusting EvE players to distribute very unique ships in a fashion they deem right.
Third-party applications supplement players' Eve Online experience... while others are endorsed, tacitly or explicitly, by CCP. EVEMon, a .NET application that monitors and forecasts skill training times, is one example of an explicitly authorized external application.
Listen up. I consider this next part important. What eve form the outside looks like to people...
Eve Online periodically has arisen for discussion within the wider gaming community as players of the game find various ingenious methods of scamming, deceiving, or attacking each other.
One infamous example was a corporate infiltration and heist where one corporation infiltrated a target corporation over the course of nearly a year. They then performed a virtual assassination on the target's CEO and proceeded to steal corporate property to which they had gained access. The target corporation lost billions of ISK worth of property (amounting to about $16,500 USD) and a great deal of prestige; the CEO's expensive ship and cybernetic implants were destroyed in the attack.
Events of this nature are debated both inside the game world and in the media
Eve is supposed to be a dark dangerous place and that is what makes this game good.
Now here is my question
IF CCP is saying that we the players can TRUST Somer Bink..
Q3, How do we know we can trust Fansites and third parties to operate fairly and independently?
A3, We have worked with a lot of third party sites in the past such as EVE Radio, BIG Lottery and SOMER Blink. These entities (and others of course) have demonstrated a solid history of trust and reliability. As a result, we can verify that they have been straight and true in their dealings and this should be encouraged.
How does that keep with the Eve Online spirit? I just don't understand how a dark dangerous game is giving trillions of isk to a group of players just like you and me who can be trusted as much as we are and can also scam as much as some do.
I think I might be on to something. But hey I'm just trying to speak my thoughts. (I know im beating a dead horse but I wanted to tell things just from an outer perspective)

I guess I forgot to add.
Is what I say atleast a little bit true? If something is wrong I can fix the facts or restate things in a better way.
and what do you think? Do you agree? |

Maybe CCP wants to show, that trusted player-driven Creations have chances to get some kind of connected with EVE.
Maybe SOMER Blink is a gigantic isk-destroyer, created by CCP.

Respect.
I thought this was resolved by the come to their senses post they made before the Rubicon announcement stating they were not going to do the original plan of the old ships and provided new different gifts instead. |
